This is part two of a five part series, breaking down some of the top dual-sport athletes in Oklahoma as we get closer to the start of the 2022 football season.
In Case You Missed It:
Carter Roman Nose Carter Roman Nose 6'3" | CG El Reno | 2025 State OK – 2025 Guard – El Reno
On The Court: You can make the argument that out of the four prospects on this breakdown, nobody has had a better eight months than Carter Roman Nose Carter Roman Nose 6'3" | CG El Reno | 2025 State OK out of El Reno in terms of basketball. Maybe the Southeast standout might have something to say about it. But Roman Nose had an outstanding freshman season. We saw several freshman step up in a big way last winter and the El Reno product is one of them. We watched him have several big performances in person and it looks like he’s just scratching the surface of what he can be.
On The Gridiron: We certainly know more about the El Reno standout on the basketball court after the last eight months of spectacular play in school ball and travel ball with Team Griffin . However, Roman Nose had a really good football season last fall and with El Reno having a new head coach taking over, his production could even go up this fall. We’re looking forward to seeing more of him on the gridiron because out of the four prospects on this breakdown, we probably know the least about him but as a 2025 prospect, there’s still time.
Darian Grant Darian Grant 6'6" | SF Moore | 2024 State OK – 2024 Forward – Moore
On The Court: Moore has several standouts in the state’s 2024 class and Darian Grant Darian Grant 6'6" | SF Moore | 2024 State OK is one of them. Mainly known as an athletic forward, Grant has definitely gotten off to a good start on the hardwood so far in his high school career. It’s still too early to pick one sport over the other in terms of where he’s the better prospect. He’s more experienced in basketball and the Lions have had a lot of success over the last year. And with so many young players coming back for this winter, it shouldn’t surprise anyone to see them make another run.
On The Gridiron: Grant is an intriguing prospect in football moving forward. There’s no doubt that he’s more known for his abilities on the basketball court right now, but over the next two years, he could transform into one of the better football prospects in the state’s 2024 class. We got a chance to see Grant in person during the spring at one of the team camps. He was primarily being used as an outside linebacker or a defensive end. He definitely has the size to be a terrorizing pass rusher coming off the edge but he’s still raw.
Keegan Bass Keegan Bass 5'10" | PG Mustang | 2023 OK – 2023 Guard – Mustang
On The Court: Of the four prospects on this breakdown, Mustang 2023 guard Keegan Bass Keegan Bass 5'10" | PG Mustang | 2023 OK is the only one not in the rankings for his respective class in basketball. That’s not to suggest that he shouldn’t be on there. He’s one of the better guards in the OKC area in the 2023 class. But it appears very clear that football is the brightest future for Bass moving forward as he’s a D1 commit to the next level on the gridiron. But we’re hoping to see him on the court one more time this winter after he missed time last year with an injury.
On The Gridiron: As mentioned, Bass is headed to the next level to play football as a commit to Air Force. As a wide receiver, Bass is one of the best in the state’s 2023 class. He has had an outstanding offseason and we got a chance to see him in person quite a bit this spring and summer. We believe that Mustang is going to be a dark horse in the state championship picture and the offense that they have is a big reason why. Bass is a big play waiting to happen as he can turn a short pass into a long play in the blink of an eye.
Micheal Graham Micheal Graham 6'1" | PG Del City | 2024 State OK – 2024 Guard – Southeast
On The Court: Southeast is absolutely loaded on the basketball floor as they head into this winter. Del City might be the early favorite in Class 5A but the Spartans are going to be right there in the mix. They have several young prospects that we like and one of them is 2024 guard Micheal Graham Micheal Graham 6'1" | PG Del City | 2024 State OK . The 1-2 combination of Graham and fellow 2024 prospect Ladainian Fields Ladainian Fields 6'2" | CG Del City | 2024 OK is going to be incredibly tough to stop this winter. That backcourt is one of the best in Class 5A and will cause plenty of problems. Needless to say, we like Graham on the court.
On The Gridiron: We mentioned that 1-2 combination right? Well on the gridiron it’s just as deadly. Graham is Southeast’s starting quarterback and Fields has emerged as one of the top wide receivers in the state, regardless of class. Graham put up some solid numbers last year throwing the ball with the majority of those passes going to Fields. Southeast Spartan fans have two more years of watching this dynamic duo do it on the football field and then turn around and do it again on the basketball court at a very high level.
