We were in attendance for this event – which featured mostly Southern California-based players, and below are the first set of top performers we saw.
Jeremy Williams, 2024, Etiwanda
The lineage of good point guard play at Etiwanda should live on through Williams. The 6-foot-3 point guard has elite speed in transition which he uses to blow by defenders for paint touches where he can finish over or around shot blockers or kick to an open shooter. Williams impressed most on the defensive end. His quick hands, willingness to sit in a defensive stance and ability to keep his assignment in front of him had a major impact on the floor.
Jon Mani Jon Mani 6'5" | SG Palisades | 2024 #274 Nation CA-S , 2024, Beverly Hills
Mani is a skilled swingman whose combination of size, length, fluidity with the ball in his hands and ability to knock down three-point shots off the catch made him highly-effective in this camp. At 6-feet-6 with a long, wiry frame, Mani uses those physical attributes to his advantage when being guarded by smaller or bigger defenders. The junior got to his spots at the mid-range level and shot over smaller defenders and took bigs out behind the three-point line to stretch the floor for his teammates.
Ryan Enos Ryan Enos 6'8" | PF Cathedral Catholic | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, Cathedral Catholic
A lot of the intrigue surrounding Enos at the next level is due to his offensive capabilities, and rightfully so. The 6-foot-8, 215-pound stretch four fits into modern systems because of his consistent three-point shooting stroke at his size. But when evaluating prospects we really try to look for things that guys have improved on and for Enos it was his rim protecting presence that stood out as one of those improvements. The junior forward showed a willingness to challenge and block shots around the basket and it was a game-changer for his camp team.
Xavier Edmonds Xavier Edmonds 6'8" | PF Bishop Montgomery | 2023 State #245 Nation CA-S , 2023, Bishop Montgomery
The 6-foot-8 big man is as skilled as they come at his size and there were few prospects in this camp who could handle him inside or out. Edmonds has great feel and touch with either hand around the basket, but can also step out onto the perimeter and do some damage. Edmonds has the shooting touch to stretch the floor to the three-point line and the ball skills and footwork to execute dribble hand-off action.
Wyatt Studer, 2024, Eastvale Roosevelt
Studer wasn’t the flashiest of players or a guy who dominated the ball, but he was super effective nonetheless. The 6-foot-8 forward was a menace on the offensive boards and in transition where his energy, athleticism and touch with either hand made him a high percentage finisher. Studer’s ability to guard multiple positions stood out when he switched onto guards and moved well laterally to contain and make offensive players get off the ball.
