Already a steady playmaker off the bounce, Evans as continued to solidify himself as one of the most reliable combo guards in the state. Standing at six feet tall, the incoming senior is just steady and reliable in a myriad of situations. Evans does a great job maximizing his pivot foot under pressure, patiently awaiting an open cutter or to find a skip pass across the key. Another unique facet of Evans’ playstyle comes from his positional strength. He is more than capable muscling through screens or taking a low blow without faltering. Although the combo guard mostly gets his attempts around the rim, he is more than capable knocking down threes off the catch regardless of a contest.
Xander Baldessari Xander Baldessari 6'4" | PF Douglas County | 2023 CO – Douglas County
Looking to play a major role for Douglas County, Baldessari will provide positional size and versatility on both ends within the newly established 6A conference. Standing roughly 6’3, the shooting guard has become especially potent as a downhill driver, notably coming off of crossovers. Baldessari does a great job making proactive decisions within three dribbles, whether it is a pull-up jumper, seeking out contact, or making the extra pass. Given his strong frame, he will serve as a key rebounding threat and multi-positional defender.
Radek Homer Radek Homer 6'0" | SG Mountain Vista | 2023 State CO – Mountain Vista
It sounds simple, but Homer just understands how to play basketball. In my book, Homer is one of the best off-ball movers in the state regardless of class. His timing while attacking passing lanes is a major contributor to his success. Although Homer has always had some hops, he appeared to be making clear strides as a vertical leaper and shot blocker at this weekend’s elite camp. Homer is also more than capable guarding 1s and potentially some 2s once adding a little more strength. Given he has all the lateral quickness necessary to match up on the perimeter. One area of improvement will be his pull-up shooting, although he is more than capable getting to his spots. The southpaw combo guard was recently offered by MSU Denver, a hallmark of the Dan Ficke led staff prioritizing in state athletes.
Quinten Gardner – Arapahoe (title image)
Similar to Homer, Gardner brings elite on-ball defense while doubling down as a pass first creator at 6’1. Point guard accurately describes his role, where he is active hitting halfcourt outlet passes or making tight passes in space. Within the halfcourt, Gardner can break you down one on one or use a screen to create a driving lane, where he is consistent finding shooters out of drive and kick situations. On drives, Gardner does a great job digging into opponents and lowering his center of gravity. Once the double team comes, he is more than capable finding the open man.
TaRea Fulcher TaRea Fulcher 5'11" | PG Regis Jesuit | 2023 CO – Regis Jesuit
Fulcher is a box office creator with the ball in his hands. Although only standing roughly 5’11, Fulcher is quick changing directions and speeds. The point guard is more than capable creating scoring opportunities with either hand, whether through layups or short floaters. Continuing to leverage his scoring gravity to create passing lanes for teammates will play a major impact on Regis’s success this season.
