The 2024 rankings have been updated for NorCal class of 2024. Here we have our top point guards in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1124083' first='Kevin' last='Haupt'] 5'10 of Jesuit HS

He's a polished guard with all the necessary tools to run the point guard position. He doesn't get flustered or rushed, he has good composure under pressure. He sees the court as well as any guard, he's an excellent passer. He can get into the paint to draw, and dish, and kick it out to shooters. He hits the mid-range with consistency, and will hit open 3ptrs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1253214' first='Mateen' last='Rafiq'] 6'0 of El Camino HS

He's a play maker with solid point guard skills. He's capable of playing off the ball as well. Rafiq has the mentality and confidence to take over games in stretches. He's floor leader that can settle a team in half-court sets, find open teammates with long passes up court. He has the handles, and balance to get his shot off over bigs in the paint. He'll knock down 3's if you don't guard him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1124080' first='Tyler' last='Jones'] 6'1 of Archbishop Mitty HS

Jones has been putting in good work this spring and summer competing at a high level. He's stronger and is using his body to be a more physical player on both ends of the court. He's an excellent floor leader, good at giving directions up top. He can collapse a defense with his ability to get into the paint for the jump stops. He's hitting the mid-range jumper more often, and is one of the better 2024 defenders in NorCal.

[player_tooltip player_id='1383575' first='Tzahari' last='Trevino'] 6'4 of valley Christian HS, San Jose

There's some debate if he's really a point guard at 6'4. He handles, passes, and pushes like a point guard. He uses his body and dribble to get inside from different angles for paint jumpers, and to challenge bigs around the basket. He's shown he can knock down the corner 3ptr. He plays with good balance and aggression when he has the ball. He's a good rebounding guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='1322182' first='Jalen' last='Flenory'] 5'8 of Consumnes Oak HS

He's one of the better under 6ft guards in NorCal. He has quickness, he's tough, and has the skills to be an effective scorer. He's proven he can run point showing patience and good passing, while directing traffic. He can also generate points when he gets aggressive with the ball in the open court. He uses his handles, and speed in transition, he has the toughness to challenge in the paint, and can pull-up on the dime. He's tough to guard, and is a pesky on ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='1253218' first='Quintin' last='Bundage'] 5'9 of Archbishop Riordan HS

A good ball handling guard. He's a pass first guard, but can go by a defenders to get his. He's strong with good speed, quickness. He's uses his speed in transition to push, and pass it up. He can handle the contact when he takes it strong into the paint. Standing 5'9 he has the leverage and speed to defend other quick ball handlers in full court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1382859' first='Darnell' last='Hunter'] 6'0 of Grant HS

A strong guard with toughness, he plays with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. He's grown into the point guard position. He's learning to be patient up top, his decision making is improved, and he looks to get others involved. He's good in transition willing to take it straight at the defender. His handles are good, he can get by defenders and into the paint. He's a good on ball defender when locked in.

Jacob Rodriquez 5'8 of Urban HS

Excellent ball handler, fast in the open court, he makes good decisions. He looks to pass first, but can go into attack mode for points in transition, and if there's an opening. He does a good job of running the team in half-court sets. He's quick off the dribble, attacks the paint hard using paint jumpers, and floaters. He can hit mid-range jumpers. He has the foot speed to stay in front of ball handlers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1256546' first='JP' last='Kerrigan'] 6'2 of Sacred Heart Prep

Kerrigan could very well be a combo guard, or play shooting guard with his high school team, because he has a good shot from the 3pt line. We noticed he could handle and create some separation off his dribble to free himself up for shots off the dribble, and get into the paint. He's a ball mover and a willing passer. He has good foot speed and brings intensity to the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1264591' first='Fredrick' last='Purnell'] 6'1 of Sacred Heart Cathedral

Purnell's an improving point guard. He continues to improve his skill-set and play-making abilities for the position. He was solid and consistent this spring and summer using his handles, and vision to find teammates for transition buckets. He had good entry passes to post players, and player moving to get open on the perimeter, including cutters to the basket. He can penetrate the paint, hit the shot off the dribble. in the crunch. His defensive intensity has gone way up.
