D'Shaun Vinyard: 6'0 Shooting Guard "Magdalena" Class of 2023

D'Shaun Vinyard played an integral role in helping Magdalena win their second straight state championship this past high school season. He was the teams second leading scorer this past year averaging about 17 points per game and 6 rebounds per game this past season. D'Shaun Vinyard was the 8th leading scorer in the 1A Class this past year and was a consistent player all season. In the biggest game of the season and in his life, he had an eye-opening performance on the biggest stage at the "The Pit" in the championship vs Elida. D'Shaun recorded a double-double in the game scoring 30 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the teams championship victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='1208049' first='Josiah' last='Guliford']: 5'10 Point Guard "La Cueva" Class of 2023

[player_tooltip player_id='1208049' first='Josiah' last='Guliford'] is one of the most under appreciated point guards that we have in New Mexico and he showed why last season. It's like having a second coach on the floor with his leadership. Him and teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1076700' first='Exodus' last='Ayers'] were the team captains for the La Cueva Bears last season. Josiah has the trust of his coaching staff and his teammates to have the green light on the floor to direct the offense on the floor. Josiah is a scrappy old school type of point guard that leaves it all on the floor. He can space the floor with his shooting and is a solid playmaker for his teammates. Josiah helped La Cueva win their district title and reach the 5A State Semifinals.

[player_tooltip player_id='1276347' first='David' last='Cruz']: 5'9 Shooting Guard "Las Cruces" Class of 2023

[player_tooltip player_id='1276347' first='David' last='Cruz'] had a solid junior year for the Las Cruces Bulldawgs this past season. He was the teams fourth leading scorer that averaged over 8 points per game and was one of the states premier three-point shooters. David was the teams best three point shooter this past year making 59 three-pointers. He ranked 9th in the state of New Mexico in three-pointers made this year shooting an impressive 43% from the field. His play helped Las Cruces reach the 5A State Championship game for the third season in a row. After the team top three leading scorers graduated this past season, David has gotten more shots and responsibility this summer. He has proven he can be the teams first option and be the player they go too late in games in the fourth quarter. David has hit some clutch shots and is never afraid of the big moments.

Donovan Cruz: 5'9 Point Guard "West Mesa" Class of 2023

Donovan Cruz from West Mesa High School is a traditional point guard that made a major impact for the Mustangs last season. He was very much responsible for helping West Mesa make the 5A State Tournament last season for the first time since the 2017-18 season. Donovan was one of the teams captains from last season. He specializes in setting up his teammates with his playmaking which opens up his own scoring from the perimeter. Donovan takes pride in his defense and is one of the best defensive point guards in the state. He is very capable of picking you up full court defensively and is among one of the best in the state at staying in front of his opposing matchups. Donovan has good anticipation around the paint taking charges and sacrificing his body for his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='1360191' first='Andrew' last='Hill']: 6'2 Guard "Sandia" Class of 2023

[player_tooltip player_id='1360191' first='Andrew' last='Hill'] had a solid season for the Sandia Matadors during his junior year this past season. Andrew was the teams third leading scorer who averaged 11.5 points per game last season and helped the Matadors reach the 5A State Quarterfinals in the State Tournament this past March. Throughout the off-season, Andrew has looked really impressive this summer. The lefty has remained a solid outside shooter and looks more crafty creating his own shot. His ball handling looks really good whenever he attacks the basket and puts the moves on defenders. Expect [player_tooltip player_id='1360191' first='Andrew' last='Hill'] to have a good senior year this upcoming season.
