There will be no more AAU Fridays for the 17u players. They gave many summers of their lives to this and it is nearing an end. Knowing their AAU days are limited, these 2023’s played wonderfully Friday night.

Blue Cain (BMaze 17u) played assertive and hungry once again. Blue’s game is well-covered and well-respected at this point. And yet he continues to produce every single time out. Greatness requires consistency and Cain’s greatness is clear each performance he gives. More than he gave earlier in his AAU career, Blue provided very good on-ball defense. He completed two impressive blocks up high. The game also included a sprinkling of Cain deflections. [player_tooltip player_id=’1273550’ first=’Shane’ last=’Cherry’] is the team’s master as disruptive hands, but Blue showed a little too.

[player_tooltip player_id=’1034089’ first=’Yesan’ last=’Warren’] (BMaze 17u) made a nice impression with a made three-pointer. Yesan’s game is usually that of complimentary player, largely because he typically lines up alongside volume scorers. His high school teammates the last three years were B.J. Edwards and Blue Cain for goodness sakes. When the team needed a jolt tonight Yesan provided it with a needed three-pointer. He will never be a knockdown shooter at a high volume, but knowing he can make it will keep him in the mind of defenses.

[player_tooltip player_id=’1029090’ first=’Lukas’ last=’Walls’] (Pro One-AL) started for Pro One in a difficult late Friday night game. Walls and his team began the game with challenged looks. They trailed for what felt like the entirety. Lukas’ used his shoulder to create a subtle bump on his way to a fastbreaking layup. The nudge helped him finish strong and sure. It was his fifth point in approximately 20 seconds’ time. Walls earned a tough two points by simply out-leaping the defense, collecting an offensive rebound, and finishing a simply layup. The rebound was the hard part. He is verbally committed to Samford University.
