In the past two tournaments, the Schoolers have been hot. At the GPA in St. Cloud, the Schoolers took home a second-place finish. At Best of the South in Atlanta, they finished with a quality 4-2 record and they won the Gold Consolation Championship. See below for scores and results.
The Schoolers have a nice mix of big and strong forwards that are countered by small and quick guards. Coach Vincent has this team in a rhythm and they have won 10 of their last 13 games. Expect them to keep rolling as the AAU season continues.

Top Performers in ATL
Tyson Stevenson Tyson Stevenson 6'2" | SG Hamlin | 2024 State SD |6’1 SG| Hamlin
He was one of my favorite SD players that I watched last year in the high school season. Tyson is a lightning-quick guard with an advanced skill set. I imagine he will put up gaudy numbers this winter. This past weekend in Atlanta, Tyson settled in as the event went on. He had a few splashy scoring games where he put up big numbers. Tyson also had a couple of games where he went off from beyond the arc. Stevenson has been a key factor in helping the Schoolers win 10 of their last 13 games.
Alec Squires Alec Squires 6'10" | C Sioux Valley | 2024 State #280 Nation SD |6’10 C| Sioux Valley
Every time I watch this player he looks better than the last time. Squires is a hard worker with a high ceiling. It seems like in every event he has multiple highlight dunks and monster blocks. He is not just tall, Squires is an athlete. In Atlanta, Squires was exceptional and he averaged a double-double. He was very productive against quality competition. In the Consolation Championship game Alec was on fire with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks. The Cossack became stronger as the tournament went on! Alec was vital to the effort in the four straight wins that the Schoolers picked up. Like always, Squires had several SHOWTIME dunks. Alec showed again that he is a gamechanger on defense and that he is a chairman of the boards.
Jaxson Wingert Jaxson Wingert 6'7" | PF Dakota Valley | 2024 State SD |6’7 PF| Dakota Valley
He was a beast in the HS season and Wingert helped DV finish the season with a perfect record and a Championship. Jaxson “Tish” Wingert has played great for the Schoolers all spring & summer. His physicality, motor, finishing, and rebounding have been huge assets for the Schoolers. Tish has some of the best footwork in the Dakotas and it has been on display at every event this AAU season. The “Twin Towers” of Wingert and Squires were tough for opposing teams in ATL! They have the size but they are also gritty. Jaxson has grown his skill and overall game. He is no longer just a low post, he can do it all on both ends of the floor.
Matt Anderson Matt Anderson 6'6" | SF Canton | 2024 State SD |6’5 SF| Canton
When I watch Anderson play, he standouts out as a stellar athlete with impressive size and strength. Those 3 ingredients make a lockdown defender and that is what Matt is. During the high school season, Anderson shut down some DUDES. He is a versatile offensive player and a dynamic dunker. In AAU ball, Anderson still sticks out as an athlete. The Schoolers use him to clamp down on top offensive players. On offense, Matt has been making plays as a slasher. Anderson, Wingert, and Squires have been securing the glass all spring/summer for the Schoolers. His best basketball is still ahead of him. Like everyone else on this team, Anderson has a bright future.
Kadyn Fast Kadyn Fast 6'1" | PG De Smet | 2024 State SD |6’1 SG| De Smet
The Bulldog is a winner, that knows what it takes to get the W. Fast is from De Smet and they breed success. Kadyn is going to have a breakout season for De Smet this winter. It comes as no surprise that Kadyn is performing well with the Schoolers. Fast has shown some of the quickest feet in the Schooler program. He uses that quickness to help him be a great defender. The Bulldog flys down the court in transition and he is a versatile/tough all-around playmaker. Fast is performing excellent as of late, he played very well in St. Cloud and Atlanta.
Tyan Buus Tyan Buus 5'10" | CG Pierre | 2024 State SD |5’10 SG| Sturgis
Being from the far Western part of SD, Buus does not get the attention he deserves. Tyan is very skilled, tough, gritty, and smart. When playing with the Schoolers, Buus is often tasked with defending the opposing team’s lead guard or hot hand. Buus can change the game on the defensive end. He is a momentum changer, Tyan leads his team in taking charges. Tyan is a team-first player and he really shines when creating and setting up teammates. He is great at keeping the team organized and leading. It is safe to say that Tyan is a coach on the floor and a key cog in the Schooler success.
Lane Tvedt Lane Tvedt 6'0" | PG Castlewood | 2024 State SD |6’1 G| Castlewood
He had an impressive high school season and Tvedt helped get his Warriors to the State Tournament. When I watched Tvedt play in the HS season he stuck out as a pure shooter and a player that can impact the game from beyond the arc. In AAU, it took Tvedt a bit of time to get comfortable with the Schooler system. However, Tvedt has been gelling with his teammates and he has been deadly from behind the arc. Lane has a quick first step and he has been making precision passes.
Ryan Larson Ryan Larson 6'3" | SG Jamestown | 2024 State ND |6’3 G/F| Jamestown
He had a nice high school season, Larson averaged double figures in points and he shot a high percentage. He has the talent to be an All-WDA player this winter. Larson is a gifted athlete and a powerful dunker. When he is on the court, you never know when Ryan will slam a rim-rocking dunk. Ryan has battled through injuries this spring and has missed much of the grassroots season. However, Ryan has had some big games since making his return to the Schoolers. As the Blue Jay gets closer to 100% the Schoolers will only improve. Larson has the ability to make game-changing plays.
