Here’s a look at part some of the 17U standouts from the VA teams in attendance.
Dylan Saunders | 6’8” PF | VA Premier 17U
Saunders has been one of the top stockrisers in VA since June, picking up a number of division one offers and he had schools following him all week with his talented VA Premier team. The 6’8” stretch forward showed his ability to really knock down the three ball with consistency, he used his length to challenge shots and rebound well and he moved well off the ball to put himself in positions to score it easily. He was efficient and productive in a number of different ways and showed a lot of tools that will make him successful at the next level.
Alex Bates | 6’5” WF | VA Premier 17U
Bates, who is from Charlotte but has played with this VA Premier team the past two seasons, has seen his recruitment take off over the past few months as he holds double digit offers and it continues to grow as more and more coaches see him play. He has great size on the wing and is an explosive athlete who can play above the rim, he can stick it from deep and has good range off the catch and he can put it on the deck and get to the rim or get to spots in the midrange where he can knock down shots. He’s a competitor who brings it on both ends of the floor and he impacts the game across the board with his play.
Jamison Lynam | 5’8” PG | VA Premier 17U
Lynam may not look the part with his size, but he’s one of the most skilled and smart guards you’ll come across and should be one of the top players in the Nova public schools this year. He plays with great pace and changes speeds well off the bounce to get to his spots, he has excellent footwork and uses pivots and fakes to get defenders off their feet and he has exceptional feel and vision when he gets in the lane to make plays for others. He picks his spots and scores it efficiently, he guards the ball well and is pest defensively and he impacts the game in winning ways every time he’s on the floor.
Timayahs Bracey Timayahs Bracey 6'0" | SG Hargrave | 2024 VA | 5’10” CG | VA Havoc 17U
Bracey has steadily improved over the years and has developed from a knock down shooter into an well-rounded guard who can do a little bit of everything to help his team. He is a dead eye shooter with excellent range and is very consistent from deep, he can play on or off the ball and make shots either way and he’s really developed as a ball handler and playmaker at the point guard position. He is an efficient scorer that can get hot and fill it up in bunches, and he does all the little things defensively and making hustle plays as well.
Conner Dubsky | 6’3” WG | Prospect U 17U
Dubsky is one of the hottest recruits on the east coast ever since the summer started, and he holds offers from every level of division one schools. This past week he showed what he does well, which is being an exceptional scorer that can fill it up from anywhere and in a number of different ways. He’s a knock down shooter from deep who can make shots on the move, he can create space off the bounce and make tough shots in the midrange area and he’s a strong and athletic finisher at the rim as well.
Ty Mason | 6’8” C | Prospect U 17U
Mason is one of the best available bigs in the DMV, and his unique skillset at his size makes him very intriguing at the next level as he continues to improve. At 6’8” he has good hands and feet in the post, he can contest shots and rebounds well in traffic and he has good touch around the rim with either hand. What really stands out and separates him from other big men though is his perimeter skillset, as he is able to drill it from deep, put it on the deck and create space and he is a good passer as well.
