The Prep Hoops Circuit was in full swing in Minneapolis this past weekend, and some of the top AAU programs and hoopers from Iowa made the trip up North. Plenty of stellar athletes hit the floor and were deserving of recognition, but here are the 5 that planted themselves on the All-Iowa Elite Team.

[player_tooltip player_id=’956879’ first=’Tate’ last=’Petersen’] - Iowa Mavs 2023 Purple

The tough nosed guard impressed all weekend in a plethora of ways on the hardwood. He helped kick off the weekend by leading his Mavs team to an in-state victory over Iowa Barnstormers 2023 Gold Friday night. Peterson was able to shoot from deep consistently as well as finish in the paint through traffic. His performance made him my pick for the captain of the All-Iowa Team at the Prep Hoops Hard Work Regional Finals

[player_tooltip player_id="1462778" first="Tate" last="Van Regenmorter"] - Arena Basketball Club 2023 - Maher

A stretch-big who has a very versatile game on the hardwood helped guide Arena Club 2023 to a successful weekend. The Western Christian senior presents a difficult matchup for opposing teams as he has the ability to knock down shots from deep plus take defenders off the dribble. His vision and IQ also stood out as Tate was able to distribute to open teammates and move the ball effectively in a potent Arena Club offense.

[player_tooltip player_id="956878" first="Brayson" last="Laube"] - Iowa Barnstormers 2023 Gold

A guard who can fill it up with the best of them. Laube had a solid weekend in the scoring column and poised a tough task to all those guarding him in Minneapolis. He has the ability to score in a handful of ways and when he gets going he is one exciting player to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id="1240067" first="Matthew" last="Watters"] - Iowa Mavs 2023 Purple

Another member of the well-rounded Mavs 2023 Purple squad, Watters stands out as the team’s “glue guy.” A great rebounder and active defender whose physicality and determination guided him into being a chaos creator for opponents offenses. A true competitor, Watters, was a joy to watch and is poised to carry over his success into his high school senior campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id="1067654" first="Sean" last="Murphy"] - Iowa Barnstormers 2023 Black

The motor of his team, Murphy does not shy away from a challenge. Elite ball handling and the ability to change speeds made Murphy one of my favorite guards to watch this weekend. His shooting also proves to be a strength to his game as he has a smooth stroke anywhere from a contested midrange to a deep 3 ball.
