The CHSAA team camp was held at Iona Prep. Here are some players who caught our eye.

[player_tooltip player_id="1395971" first="Christian" last="Jeffrey"]. 6”3. 2024. Bishop Loughlin

Strong body. Real good off the bounce. Explosive downhill player who can also elevate and score it. Strong handle gets him into the lane where he can finish at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="1045692" first="Blaise" last="New"] 5”9 2023 Iona Prep

Possibly the best pure point we saw at this event. Knows how and when to get his teammates involved. Excellent vision and court awareness. Handles it and passes it as good as anybody we saw. Added bonus he can dril the deep three or use his craftiness to finish at the rim.

P J Scalisi 6”2 2023 St Joseph by the Sea

At 6”3 he is able to catch the ball in the lane 12 feet from the rim and use his turn around jumper. Smart player can get his shot off many different ways. He showed us the ability to get to the rim, hit a little fadeaway, or show you an old school Jack Sikma face up jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id="1395995" first="Jaiden" last="Gaston"] 5”8 2024 McClancy

A smaller player who has excellent lift on his jump shot. Crafty handle gets him into a good position for his pull up. Can shoot the three but I’m more impressed with his ability to stop on a dime and get his shot off over bigger players.

[player_tooltip player_id="1045694" first="Jayden" last="James"] 6”1 2024 Molloy

Jayden got noticed at this event last year. Last year we saw him at a spring tournament and were excited to see him really get tested. After a fine high school season he continues to get better. He impressed here on Saturday. Showing the ability to get to the rim. Not explosive but has a quick burst to the rim. He can get his shot up and finish at the rim through contact with flair or finesse.

[player_tooltip player_id="1045703" first="Bryce" last="Merchant"] 6”4 2023 Christ the King

We have seen Bryce on different occasion he’s been good. On this day though, it is the best I’ve seen him play. He was very active on the boards and in the paint. Held his position defending. Looking forward to see him continue to develop.

[player_tooltip player_id="1045778" first="Michael" last="Walker"] 6”7 2023 Xaverian

Big Mike has a impressive body. This event really showed everything that he can be for Xaverian. Strong rebounder, passer and scorer. Uses his strength to gain position and score inside. Player to watch in the summer leading into his senior season.
