My recap from the University of Findlay continues with a look at the top senior guards on display. D2 and D3 programs will want to keep an eye on these athletes as some of these guys are the best guards from their respective areas.

[player_tooltip player_id="1195018" first="Ethan" last="Keiser"] Fort Loramie

Keiser impressed for the Redskins in their loss to St. John’s with very good shooting ability. Keiser excelled in catch-and-shoot situations and knocked down 3 early 3’s in Loramie’s loss. Keiser has the physicality we see in SCAL guards and was not afraid to get physical on the defensive end with the St. John’s guards. He along with senior guard [player_tooltip player_id="867944" first="Caleb" last="Maurer"] will be a solid duo for Loramie as they look to continue their dominating past.

[player_tooltip player_id="867941" first="CJ" last="Hornbeak"] Toledo St. John’s

Hornbeak brought two-way play to the table for the Blue Jays and was instrumental in their win against Fort Loramie. Hornbeak has a knack for finishing and offensive slashing which was on full display. The 6-foot-3 guard brings a physical frame and patient attacking attributes to simply score at will for St. John’s. Hornbeak additionally is one of the better defenders and showed he could successfully defend whoever the guard may be on the perimeter.

Drew Stephens Upper Scioto Valley

Stephens is a very skilled guard and plays with a higher motor. Not the most athletic player I watched, Stephens did the little things and showed he has one of the higher basketball IQs at Findlay. His focus on the basics gave him an edge against a Portsmouth West team that didn’t bring a ton of athleticism themselves. If Stephens could add some muscle to his frame, I could see some of the D3 programs in the Northern half of the state taking a look at him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1201835" first="Luke" last="Ruth"] Bishop Ready

Ruth has been a household name this Spring and Summer with his play in the AAU scene as well as his play with Ready. Ruth has a motor and style of play that is hard to necessarily describe. Playing with high energy on the offensive end, as well as seemingly exceeding in all aspects you look for in a guard. Possesses the shooting mechanics and scoring output. Unselfish and a very capable defensive player.
