I spent some time Saturday checking out action at the University of Dayton team camp, The first piece will focus on the top 2023 performers from the day.

Daniel Jefferson Beavercreek

Jefferson has vastly improved since seeing him last Winter with the Beavers. He has been a role player for Beavercreek since his sophomore year and is poised for a big senior season. Jefferson looked more composed all together and seemed to be more patient with his play. Improved footwork and changing of pace and speed. Jefferson finished well around the rim and impressed me with his shiftiness around established defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id="1163465" first="Aiden" last="Schmidt"] Dublin Coffman

Schmidt brought plenty of defensive tenacity for Coffman in a tight matchup with Beavercreek early on Saturday. The lefty guard has tremendous lateral quickness and proved himself as a glue guy. Read passing lanes and got a hand on plenty of deflections. Shot the ball exceptionally well on the offensive end. Schmidt lacks the athleticism of other guards in the 2023 class, but his defensive play is enough to lead the Shamrocks this year.

Kalerrio Reaves Meadowdale

Reaves was basically doing whatever he wanted for the Lions against Columbus West. The slashing guard creates plenty of separation with his speed and quick feet. Reaves has a good enough handle to create any shot he wants and could become a truly deadly guard if he can consistently knock down midrange shots. Reaves’ shot selection is another question mark as he sometimes settled for midrange shots vs taking one to two more dribbles and getting a shot at the rim. Reaves and [player_tooltip player_id="922591" first="Lee" last="Benson"] return means the Lions should again have a chance to advance to the Regional tournament.

Anthony Ruffalo Alter

Ruffalo picked up where he left off this AAU season as the senior guard picked up several buckets right away against St. Henry with his body control and patience with the basketball. Utilized the spin move which has gotten cleaner and crisper which allowed shots at the rim. Ruffalo finished shots in the paint and consistently found the paint. He along with senior teammates [player_tooltip player_id="1219837" first="Aj" last="Leen"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1052785" first="Gavin" last="Geisel"] have leadership needed to carry the Knights to another deep tournament run.

[player_tooltip player_id="1380729" first="Theo" last="Maag"] Ottawa-Glandorf

Maag continues to show great post presence and was great for the Titans in a battle with Fairmont. The senior big man impressed with a nice up-and-under against the Firebirds physical and disciplined defense. Maag proved to be a possible secondary option for the Titans along with highly touted [player_tooltip player_id="1222349" first="Colin" last="White"] and could again be a contender in Division III next year.
