Show Me Showdown: Scotty B’s 2023 Stock Boosters

<p>Prep Hoops Show Me Showdown is a staple of the Memorial Day weekend that was brought back this year for the PHC.  It was a fun three days of hoops.  What prospects made the biggest impression?  Check out our <strong>Show Me Showdown: Scotty B’s 2023 Stock Boosters</strong>!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1215304" first="Bennett" last="Briles"] (Rush Academy 17U)</strong></p> <p>Briles is heading back to Nashville for his senior year it appears, and the defending state champs will be getting an interior presence with legit size at 6’8” that can space the floor.  He drained several threes and mid-range jumpers in the games we saw.  Has a frame he can add strength which should continue to his improve his already decent athletic pop at the rim.  Upside!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1416500" first="Rolen" last="Adams"] (Rush Academy 17U)</strong></p> <p>Adams is a shooting guard from Salem that is a plus shooter off the catch.  That is where his biggest value will be at the next level as a spot up shooting threat.  Flashed some growth as a ball handler and playmaker in spurts.  Continued improvement in this area will expand his small college recruitment.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1168383" first="Adam" last="Labuda"] (Illinois T-Wolves 17U)</strong></p> <p>What a game on Sunday morning for this Lockport shooting guard against Gateway as he was phenomenal from beyond the arc hitting threes in bunches with a free and easy stroke.  Pure stroke off the catch that can also mix in a drive on occasion when defenders close too hard.  Has some grit to him on the boards as well.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1159876" first="Andrew" last="Soenksen"] (Illinois T-Wolves 17U)</strong></p> <p>Soenksen has transitioned into more of a power forward as he continues to grow and bring value on the defensive end swatting shots.  That was an area we had not previously seen out of him which impressed.  He swatted multiple shots in the game we saw against Rush Academy.  Can also hit a three, run the floor, and is a mobile pick/roll player offensively.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Tyler Franklin (Illinois Bears Parr 17U)</strong></p> <p>Franklin has been a consistent presence all spring for the Bears.  Cobden strong power forward that rebounds well in traffic and competes defensively against taller posts.  He spaces the floor with his shooting, is an adequate offensive rebounder, and can put it on the deck a couple times from mid-range.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1048391" first="Kade" last="Lustenberger"] (Illinois Bears Parr 17U)</strong></p> <p>One of the sweetest shots in the 2023 class from southern Illinois.  Crisp shooter pulling up off the bounce getting it to go down from mid-range stopping on a dime and elevating over his defender.  Plus spot up shooter as well from three that can make flying and acrobatic layups at times.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="939049" first="Cade" last="Altadonna"] (Illinois Bears Parr 17U)</strong></p> <p>Strong and stocky combo guard that flat out gets it done game in and game out.  Compact guard that finishes extremely well in the paint through contact or drawing fouls.  Crafty shot maker in the paint that rebounds well for his position, swings it for the extra pass, and hits open shots with a quick lefty shot.</p>
