The Proving Grounds Showcase provided a great event and atmosphere for high school teams to get themselves prepared for the coming season. There were entertaining games and excellent player performances. Let’s look at the results and some of the highlight individual performances from the Proving Grounds Showcase.

GAME 1

Josh Harris (2024, G, Battle Creek Central) scored 10 points.

Carson Brown (2023, SG, Erie-Mason) scored 19 points.

Alex Langenderfer (2023, PG, Erie-Mason) scored 15 points.

Wyoming defeats Concord: 70 - 52

[player_tooltip player_id="1433257" first="Quadir" last="Hatchett"] (2023, PG, Wyoming) scored 29 points.

Mekhi Wingfield (2023, SF, Concord) scored 26 points.

GAME 3

Farmington defeats Napoleon: 52 - 50

Nick Morgan (2023, PG, Farmington) scored 14 points.

Devonte Habern (2024, G, Napoleon) scored 16 points.

Trent Jester (2023, PF, Napoleon) scored 18 points.

GAME 4

Wyoming defeats Wayne Memorial: 60 - 52

[player_tooltip player_id="1433257" first="Quadir" last="Hatchett"] (2023, PG, Wyoming) scored 31 points.

GAME 5

GAME 6

Jackson defeats Mason: 53 - 52

[player_tooltip player_id="1431597" first="Terrell" last="White"] (2023, SG, Jackson) scored 16 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="1111935" first="Luke" last="Marlan"] (2024, PG, Mason) scored 23 points.

MOST OUSTANDING PLAYER

I really think that it has to go to [player_tooltip player_id="1433257" first="Quadir" last="Hatchett"] from Wyoming. His team actually played twice and he ended up being a bucket all day long. In 2 game Hatchett scored a combined total of 60 points. He’s currently unranked in the senior class, but that will surely change at the next update, as he’s playing some excellent basketball and looks primed for a big senior season.

NOTES

[player_tooltip player_id="1111935" first="Luke" last="Marlan"] (Mason)

Marlan deserves to be talked about more. He’s one of the more efficient guards in the class of 2024 and showed it with his performance at this event.

Carlos Medlock (Wayne Memorial)

There’s been whispers about a couple of good young guards coming to Wayne Memorial. It looks like they’ve arrived and Medlock showed that he’s the real deal.

Mekhi Wingfield (Concord)

Wingield is an unranked senior, but that will change really fast with performances like these. He’s an athletic scorer that has a nose for the bucket. It was fun watching Wingfield and Hatchett go toe to toe in game 2.
