Palm Beach was buzzing with team camps during June’s live period. The Perseverance Shootout, organized by former college coach, Director of Perseverance Basketball, and current head coach of Oxbridge Academy Brandon Mycal, brought out programs of all levels. While colleges coaches were floating around the gym these prospects stood out among others.

Wellington

The Wolves return a strong core as duo [player_tooltip player_id="1306084" first="Reginald" last="Reinhardt"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1463291" first="Shawn" last="Cineus"] performed well. Reinhardt is a muscular guard that can get downhill and hit threes off the catch. He uses his size to gain an advantage on the defensive end to contain defenders and make defensive plays. Cineus is a hard playing 6’5 forward. He runs the floor, uses his frame on the block, and has several ways to finish in the paint. The 2023 prospect finishes through contact, can take bigs off the dribble, and plays with physicality. Another prospect to watch out for this season is Elyjah Freeman. While he may not be ready to put it all together, his 6’6 size is intriguing.

Vero Beach

A pair of rising seniors stood out for the Indians. [player_tooltip player_id="1060264" first="Derrick" last="Davey"] is a guard with three-level scoring potential. His athleticism fuels his finishing ability. He’s crafty in the midrange and can knock down threes off the catch and dribble. Davey plays hard and is a willing defender. The 2023 guard could be in for a big year as the team loses its two leading scorers to graduation.

Eddrick Willis will help Dave yin the backcourt. The athletic combo guard defends and hits shots from 18 feet and out. He makes plays for others when running the lead guard spot.

Perseverance (Oxbridge)

Coach Mycal emphasized development and getting his younger guys used to his system. Naturally, the guys with varsity experience stood out.

2024 Ismael Joseph used his quickness to make plays on both ends. He was an aggressive downhill driver that finished against contact and has craft around the rim. Defensively, he hit passing lanes for a pair of steals that he converted into transition points.

2023 guard [player_tooltip player_id="812629" first="Parker" last="Lanosa"] stood out with his muscular frame. It helped him on the defensive end and drives. Lanosa showed isolation scoring traits with his pull up three out of his size up.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="962568" first="Bo" last="Squitieri"] may have the best skillset on this team. Armed with a consistent jumper from deep, Squitieri connected on three three pointers. The 6’1 guard shows touch on his midrange shots, especially on his floaters.

Rounding out the list of prospects worth monitoring is 6’6 incoming freshman Charlie Cohn. He’s still growing into his body, but the size and mobility he shows at this stage are promising.

Park Vista

Carlos Perez followed up a strong showing at Keiser camp with more consistent play. The 2023 guard gets to the rim and draws fouls on his drives. He showed more of his transition game and sank a corner three.

Fellow 2023 prospect Jalen Altvater showed off his slashing for several double-digit games. He causes turnovers in passing lanes with the speed to turn the opportunities into transition points. 6’6 2023 prospect Kelton Ware showed more of his game as he handled the ball and made plays with his drive and kick game. His size and athleticism allowed him to make plays on the defensive end when he was engaged.
