Matt Weiner Matt Weiner 5'11" | CG Sprague | 2023 State OR (2023 Sprague)
Sprague is essentially a whole new roster but one guy that stood out in Friday’s action was Weiner. The rising 5-foot-11 senior canned some open jumpers and was particularly effective in the corners. He has a nice basketball build and had a good feel for where he needed to be on the basketball floor to be the most effective.
Nate Gilkey Nate Gilkey 6'9" | PF Gresham | 2024 State OR (2024 Gresham)
Gilkey immediately stood out as he’s long, lanky, and 6-foot-7. Defensively is where he made most of his mark as he not only blocked attempts inside but had the ability to come out and challenge shots on the perimeter. The rising junior is still raw offensively, but ran the floor well and showed a nice touch around the hoop on easy shots and putbacks.
India Mohiuddin India Mohiuddin 6'4" | SG North Eugene | 2024 State OR (2024 Sheldon)
We weren’t too familiar with Sheldon’s roster so when we checked in with head coach Eric Orton he suggested we keep an eye on Mohiuddin. The rising 6-foot-2 junior was very active on both sides of the ball and used his lankiness and speed to his advantage in transition and on some drives to the hoop.
Tobias Akpan Tobias Akpan 6'5" | PF Phoenix | 2025 State OR (2025 South Medford)
Long and lanky at around 6-foot-3, Akpan made plays on both ends of the floor and showed a fairly nice touch on his face-up jumper.
Akpan’s father Nkeruwem (Tony) played football and basketball at Hawaii and stands 6-foot-8 so more height could be in store for the younger Akpan.
Jack Bents Jack Bents 6'2" | SG Caldera | 2025 State OR (2025 Summit)
Bents was rock solid for Summit whether it was hitting shots off the catch and shoot or using the dribble to create space for himself on opportunities going to the hoop. He handled and passed the ball well and simply showed a good feel for the game and a maturity level higher than your typical rising sophomore.
Alonzo Hoff Alonzo Hoff 6'6" | SF Southridge | 2025 State OR (2025 Southridge)
Hoff comes from a hoops family as father Mustapha played at Oregon State and his two older sisters play collegiately. The rising sophomore is long and lanky and from some of the action we watched him play, had a fairly smooth stroke on his lefty jumper. At about 6-foot-4, it’s clear his best basketball is ahead of him.
Eli Vizconde (2026 Mountainside)
There were a handful of incoming freshmen playing with the varsity squads but the one that stood out the most to us was Vizconde. He came off the bench to play the role of shooter and he was knocking down open shots with consistency. He also took good care of the basketball and seemed to have a mature feel for the game.
