The Kansas class is loaded with a versatile and talented forward pool of players. Today we’re going to look at 5 Under the Radar players looking for big June’s with their high schools.
Isaiah Cull, 6’4 W, Olathe Northwest, 2023: A long and lengthy wing player who should see an expanded role for Olathe Northwest this season and that started this weekend with a solid weekend in a team tournament with the new looked Olathe NW. Cull can get out and get up on the rim in transition, is a tough rebounder from the wing spot, versatile defender, and can knock down open shots on the perimeter. Cull is a prime summer stock riser.
Hunter Moser, 5’11 G, Jeff West, 2024: A young and hungry Jeff West team will be taking the court this June, and already kicked off their new looked squad with a 2-0 day on Saturday, and Moser the young guard who got some experience last year, has already looked poised to take a big leap in his junior campaign. Moser can knock down the three ball and works well in space especially against zones and off the catch. Moser is poised in transition dribbling and attacking the rim to score, a solid rebounder, and in this early June start has shown an increased motor.
Tanner Heckel Tanner Heckel 6'0" | CG Lyndon | 2024 State KS , 5’10 G, Inman, 2024: Has put together two seasons in his high school career where he has increased his game in every way, and Heckel will be looking to take another big step in his junior campaign. The 2A All State player has shown his ability to score from all three levels, shoot it from 3 at a high clip, and slice through defenses off the bounce. Heckel also has a knack for snagging rebounds which help him get himself out on the break with the dribble.
Brock Keith, 5’10 G, Meade, 2024: Had a massive jump in his sophomore year and Keith will have the role and usage to take another leap this year. A very high IQ guard who takes quality shots and helps create quality possessions for his team. The lefty is a great straight line driver with a quick first step and attacks small slivers and operates in tight spaces comfortably. Keith has soft touch in the painted area and with his size knows how to get soft finishes up to the rim over bigger defenders. The Lefty guard has a nice looking shot as well.
Slyvester Jackson, 6’4 F, Junction City, 2024: With a ton of senior departures, it should be set up to be time for Jackson to take the reigns in the front court for a young and rebuilding Junction City team that will still have some talent in the building. Jackson has worked hard to refine his game to match his high level motor and willingness to make the little plays that impact winning. The JC forward is a terrific rim runner who can out run bigger bigs and be physical on smaller forwards. His right hand is the go to and he is ultra efficient finishing going over his left shoulder, but has shown flashes in the spring with his left hand.
