SubscribeThe Great Western Classic takes place Wednesday, June 8th and runs until Saturday, June 11th. The event hosted by recruiting legend Tim Davis features teams from around the Western Region and age groups from 3rd grade to High School Varsity. I pulled up on Day 1 to check out ABC Prep’s game vs Utah Powerhouse American Fork. Here’s my news and notes from the game.
Marcus Wilson

6’3 PG ABC Prep 2024 (#1PHNM 2024) – Watching Wilson in the past, I felt as if he was more Combo than point guard. Today he looked like a true PG. The athletic PG did a good job initiating the offense and showed terrific vision finding teammates in drive and kick situations.

6’0 CG ABC Prep (#8PHNM 2023) (featured image) – Really liked Casaus’s mental and physical toughness. He came away with more than his share of tough in traffic rebounds and closed out the game by knocking down two clutch free throws.

6’6 SF ABC Prep 2023 – Looks like Taiaroa has been working on his game. When I watched him previously, he was mostly a 3 and D guy that made his money by spotting up and knocking down treys. Today he showed some much-improved ball skills, putting the ball down and slashing to the rim. He highlighted this with a wicked pullback jumper that brought the partisan ABC crowd to its feet.

6’10 C American Fork 2023 (#17PHU 2023) – Impossible to ignore the size, length, and potential of Webb. His best skill on the night was his rebounding, as the big man attacked both the offensive and defensive backboards with reckless abandon.

6’2 PG American Fork 2024 (#31PHU 2024) – I’ll be the first to admit that the c/o 2024 PG needs to limit his turnovers, however, he does have a signature skill. The floor spacing PG has a strap and showed it off by knocking down multiple threes in the game. His stroke is textbook, and he was money from the corners.
Blake Rawsom 6’7 PF American Fork 2024 – Rawsom played with a lot of effort and energy, however, I was impressed with his skill. He flashed some good footwork, scoring with his back to the basket, and showed good athleticism, getting off the ground quickly when attempting to finish above the rim.
