In this installment of our preview of the Great Western Classic we look at a few more teams that will be fun to watch because they are well coached and they have some talent that has next level playing ability from some young talent to players entering their senior season ready to show-out.

Snow Canyon High School

Snow Canyon will come in as a team to fear because they have recently won a state championship and they have three really good next level prospect to watch. We start with the big man in the middle and that is [player_tooltip player_id="934041" first="Lyman" last="Simmons"] who had a stellar high school season and is playing some solid minutes when he is in for Vegas Elite EYBL. Lyman has perfected that side jump hook that he likes to go to in a quick catch and release. He gets his body sideways and he protects the shot as it is away from his body and he uses his long wingspan to get it off. Perimeter game has matured over the years as he is more confident taking trail jumpers or release shots. Footwork still needs work but he has made strides. He’s a LM caliber type of prospect. In the perimeter you have a player that has been emerging since he hit the scene in [player_tooltip player_id="1132291" first="Bowen" last="Hammer"] a player that has size and athletic ability but his strength right now has been his outside shot as it continues to develop as he is really transforming into a floor spacer and a floor stretching type of prospect. [player_tooltip player_id="1384536" first="Owen" last="Mackay"] has been having a great Spring as an intriguing player that has a complete game at the CG position or the W. This team will be fun to watch.

Dixie High School

Dixie seems to find ways to reload with talent and size every year. They have a few players that make them a team to watch. Let’s take a look at [player_tooltip player_id="1185179" first="Kyle" last="Lemke"] who is a 6’9 big who plays within the offense but he is also that player that creates space and offense with his movement. He knows when to release on screens and he knows when to hold in the post and when to wait till it’s time for him to cut. This leads to a lot of easy lobs and dunks. He is blocking shots and running the floor. This kid has a local D1 offer from Utah Tech University and could garner more attention in due time. [player_tooltip player_id="1146670" first="John" last="Southwick"] is going to be a game changer as he is a Swiss Army Knife for Dixie. John can shoot the ball, attack and slash when he needs to. He is defending at a high level and he is a player that can play 1-3 at the high school level. [player_tooltip player_id="1391447" first="Jordan" last="Roberts"] is building on a stellar playoff run and he is getting better every time he hits the floor. Breckon Robinson is another player that has been improving and he is going to be a valuable prospect moving forward.

Woods Cross High School

WX had an amazing run last season but knowing some of their player it was not enough as the school has had a lot of talented players come through and this upcoming season is no different. [player_tooltip player_id="934027" first="Mason" last="Bendinger"] is a tough cover at the high school level because he is strong, agile and skilled. He will be a focal point for most defenses which allows opportunity for a few other players waiting in the mist of it. [player_tooltip player_id="969245" first="Jaxon" last="Smith"] is a high IQ player that can score the ball. With his activity on defense it just adds a new dimension to his game. Look for Jaxon to really use his creativity to get people open and get his shots as well. Newcomer [player_tooltip player_id="1185170" first="Hunter" last="Jackson"] is a solid young prospect that can do a little bit of everything. These three guards can go plus the other role player son the squad will make WX a tough out.

Murray High School

The [player_tooltip player_id="934036" first="Chudi" last="Anosike"] led team will have a lot of fire-power. Chudi can score the ball very well and he is likely one of the best scorers in the Class of 2023. Chudi has been filling up the Spring from all over the floor as he is spraying most teams in the UA Rise Circuit. [player_tooltip player_id="934037" first="Jaxson" last="Workman"] has been doing his thing with his respective club team as well as he continues to show that he can handle the ball and shoot it at a high level. [player_tooltip player_id="1129118" first="Tayshaun" last="Tramel"] has been playing well this Spring as well as a lead guard and off-guard. The big in the middle will likely be [player_tooltip player_id="1046504" first="Daishaun" last="Buie"] who is athletic and he can run the floor. Murray should be a tough team.

Layton High School

Brcok Mendoza is going to be a surprise player that will provide some size that will come in handy at both ends of the floor. [player_tooltip player_id="1057041" first="KJ" last="Miller"] has been having a superb Spring and if it rolls over to the Summer slate of games he will make things tough on defenders. [player_tooltip player_id="1057040" first="Mekhi" last="Martin"] is another player that has been trying to get his game to another level and he has shown flashes. This Layton team could be a sleeper team.
