6’7 [player_tooltip player_id="1060196" first="Eugene" last="Alvin"] 2023 Small Forward

Gateway High has a man-child that’s really looking to make a name for himself. I’ve watched Alvin play for several years now. The 6’7 SF has developed and looks poised to charge right into his senior year.

Alvin has gotten physical, grabbed every rebound like he had a personal agenda, he played the role of rim protector and was one of the most dominant paint presences I watched this weekend. But don’t be fooled, Eugene can stretch the floor and shoot the 3-ball at a high clip. I believe this can be Alvin’s breakout year and put SWFL and even the state on notice.

6’6 Aidan Agnew 2024 Small Forward

The rising junior was aggressive when attacking the basket. He rebounded and boxed out well. Aidan was Downey Christian’s workhouse and did a little of everything.

He showed to be a capable shooter, but I was most impressed with his finishing ability and quick first step. Agnew wasn’t one to force the ball either. If he drew the defense on a paint touch and knew it would be a difficult finish, he immediately kicks to his shooters. High IQ player.

6’0 Gabe Timmons 2024 Guard

Timmons the youngest of 3 brothers who both also played for Gateway Charter is looking to be the most polished of the group. One of SWFL’s best-kept secrets Timmons can have a breakout season if he keeps working.

Watching him this weekend he distributed the ball well, made several tough layups, and shot from behind the arc with consistency . Growth is what comes to mind and at it’s been at rapid pace, it’s clear this young prospect has been in the gym xzworking on his game.

6’3 [player_tooltip player_id="1053914" first="Blake" last="Maddox"] 2024 Guard

Maddox is a big guard, he boasts a large physical frame and does all the dirty work. Blake loves to defend and does so with such tenacity. He loves the challenge of guarding the other teams best cover.

But it doesn’t stop there with the 2024 prospect, he can score. He’s able to shoot the 3 off the catch and get in the paint finishing either with a soft touch layup or dunk. Blake already has a college ready frame.
