Moorhead, MN - The Breakdown came to Moorhead today and there was a mix of Minnesota and North teams in attendance. I was watching games at Moorhead High School. The Eagles from Fargo Davies went 3-0 in the top bracket. Davies brought home the championship, the Eagles showed that they are a deep team loaded with shooters and athletes

It seemed like every team was missing a guy or two for various reasons. This was a great opportunity for players to step up and show what they can do. Check below for the top players from the Moorhead Breakdown.

Moorhead Breakdown

[player_tooltip player_id="1050247" first="Raymond" last="Brown"] (2023) |6’0 CG| Fargo Davies

He was the best guard in the gym today. Ray scored many breakaway and transition baskets because of his next-level speed. He shot it very well from beyond the arc. Brown was hitting triples off the bounce & off the catch. Ray showed a killer crossover and a dirty stepback jumper. In the 8:00 AM game, Brown was hitting cold-blooded jumpers one after another. Having a defender’s hand in his face never seemed to bother this stud. He showed his creativity when taking a handoff at the top of the key. He read his defender, instead of attacking he drilled the triple. Throughout the morning, Brown led the break in transition and dropped dimes to his fellow Eagles. His mid-range game was also excellent. Ray would attack a closeout, take 1 or 2 dribbles and stick the J. He showed excellent hustle with O-boards and steals. Brown showed off his superior coordination when he went up to catch a pass above his head. He caught it and passed it to another teammate before he came down to the ground. It was a great showing for Brown!

[player_tooltip player_id="1486020" first="Zach" last="Livingood"] (2023) |6’0 SG| Fargo Davies

This Eagle was absolutely on fire! Zach torched the nets in the early game and he kept the jumpers coming in the second game as well. Zach smoked the triples in the catch-n-shoot game. He hit more than I could keep track of. Whenever I looked away and looked back up, Livingood was knocking down another shot. He was not just making shots at the 3pt arc. Zach hit a few from very deep, like NBA range. He has a hair-trigger and he can get his shot off in a hurry. Zach looked to have good handles and he has a quick first step. Livingood also showed a smooth midrange pull-up jumper from the baseline. If Livingood keeps shooting like this, he will find himself some serious minutes this winter. It was a marvelous shooting display from [player_tooltip player_id="1486020" first="Zach" last="Livingood"] today!

[player_tooltip player_id="1139197" first="Adam" last="Jenkins"] (2023) |6’9 PF| Moorhead

The first nice play that I saw Jenkins make was a sweet pass from the short-corner to a cutting teammate. The big man usually standouts because of dunks, rebounding, and blocked shots. The MSUM coaching staff seemed to be watching Jenkins closely today. He also has an offer on the table from the Dragons. Adam showed an impressive lefthanded hook shot from the middle of the lane. He is more than just a powerful dunker, Jenkins has some sweet post moves! On the hook shot, I liked how he kept his shoulder perpendicular to the rim, this way the defender has no chance of blocking his shot without fouling. Like always, Adam was impressive on the glass with O-board putbacks. He also had many dunks. On a few of them, it seemed like Jenkins’s head was level with the rim, he could literally drop the ball through the rim. Of course, he didn’t drop the ball, he hammered it home! It seemed like Adam was jumping off a pogo stick and everyone else was jumping off a plain wood floor. It was a very nice day for Mr. Jenkins, he was hands down the best forward in the gym today.

[player_tooltip player_id="1284216" first="Timmy" last="Guler"] (2024) |6’0 PG| Pelican Rapids

This young PG is tough! Guler plays so hard and he does everything with full effort. Timmy throws crisp passes and he always finds the open man. I have heard that Guler is a great QB and his passes on the basketball court make that believable. Timmy showed off his playmaking when attacking in transition. A defender stepped up late and Guler turned on the spin-cycle which left the defender in the dust and Timmy scored an easy bucket. His pull-up jumper is what really impressed me. Guler slashes past the initial line of defense and he pulls up quickly and smoothly. His elevation on the jump shot is super impressive. On defense, Guler stuck out with his closeouts. He always had high hands, he burned his feet to break down, and he kept his man in front. I really like Guler’s game, I am excited to watch this Viking play again on Friday at the Metro Camp in Fargo.

Kemani Davis (2023) |6’3 G/F| Fargo Davies

He stood out as a good-sized athlete. Davis has the flexibility and versatility to play inside and out. Kemani scored many points around the basket. When his defender stepped up to help, Davis moved into position to receive a clean pass. He catches and explodes to the rim for a quick finish. Kemani can also hit the 3-ball, he cashed in a corner trip. He runs the floor well and scored plenty of points in transition. Davis is another Eagle with intriguing potential.

[player_tooltip player_id="1145145" first="Peter" last="Havelka"] (2024) |6’5 F| Fargo Davies

This long forward moved well and played unselfishly. Havelka scored and finished well at the rim. I like how he made contact and held his box-outs. Multiple times I saw Peter hold off the big star from Moorhead. Havelka rebounded consistently and he hit the outlet quickly. He helped the Eagles pick up 3 double-digit wins at the Breakdown.

Alpha Camara (2024) |6’5 SF| Fargo Davies

He had multiple dunks in the opening game. This long-player is an equal opportunity dunker. Alpha was putting them down with 2-hands and hammering them with 1-hand. Camara is a gifted athlete that makes slam-dunking look easy. Alpha scored around the rim with putbacks and dump downs from teammates. When guarding the ball, Camara moved his feet well and cut off the ballhandler. He also moved the ball well on offense and made the extra pass. Camara impacted the game with blocked shots and rim protection. This kid has has a ton of potential.

Cole Callies (2023) |5’11 G| Fargo Davies

The entire Davies team shot it hot today. Callies was one of them. He was crushing it from behind the arc. He went on a hot streak with multiple triples in a short amount of time. Cole was hot and he knew it, the next time down the court he pulled a very deep 3-pointer, and that one went in as well. The opposing defenders just shook their heads, they could not stop Callies. He moves well without the ball, Cole will be instant offense for the Eagles this winter. Davies is deep with shooters that play hard and share the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="962254" first="Sam" last="Senske"] (2023) |6’5 F| Hawley

I have watched him play a handful of times this spring and Senske is a baller. Sam can score from all 3-levels and the game comes naturally to him. Senske has a big bag of tricks that he uses to fool defenders. A couple that stood out today were his hesitation move & his spin-move. Senkse scored many points with AND1 finishes and jump shots. He and Stoa work very well together. It was another nice day of hoops for Sam.

[player_tooltip player_id="1419970" first="Brevin" last="Stoa"] (2024) |6’3 G| Hawley

He stuck out as a player with great eyes and Stoa looks to be a smart passer. I like how Brevin reads/reacts to the defense and then he delivers a dime. He does not force it, Stoa will take what the D gives him. He has a nice feel for the game. Stoa handles the rock with precision and he has a sweet mid-range J. He created TO’s and scored in transition. Stoa also showed crafty footwork & finishes at the rim. Stoa & Senske are going to be a tough 1-2 punch for the Nuggets.

Mason Carrier (2024) |6’3 SF| Detroit Lakes

This athlete stood out right away because of his strength and muscle. Carrier is put together like a Division 1 athlete. It just so happens that Carrier is being recruited by the Gophers for football. He is agile on his feet and Ethan is a powerful player. He showed this around the basket with an athletic O-board putback. Carrier also has a nice-looking pull-up game. He is going to be a force for the Lakers.

Devon Berg (2024) |5’11 G| Detroit Lakes

I like the looks of this Lakers game. Devon plays with a calm demeanor and he seems to have all the skills that you could ask for. Berg shot it well from beyond the arc. I like how he catches with a smooth motion and he gets the shot off without any wasted movement. Devon can also get downhill and score off the bounce. He showed this with an athletic slash&score via the baseline. There was heavy traffic around the rim but it did not deter Berg, he went up and finished with confidence. He looks like he will be a nice player for the coach Maass’s Lakers next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1167610" first="Matthew" last="Sem"] (2025) |6’1 SG| Fargo North

He stood out because of his outstanding athleticism. His older brother was gone, this led to Matthew having the ball in his hands more often. The young Sem is a playmaker and he moves as few can. Matthew can slash&score, create for others, and knock down the perimeter jumper. You do not want to get in a foot race down the court with him or race after a loose ball. 9 times out of 10, Sem is going to win these battles. Expect Matthew to play a key role for the Spartans this winter.
