The Hustle Region Circuit consists of AAU Programs from California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, and New Mexico. The circuit features 10 stops including the Hustle Region Final in Irvine July 15th – 17th. Stop 6 brings us to the Pacific Northwest and Centralia, Washington where 46 teams will compete all under one roof at the NW Sports Hub. The event featured several players with the unique ability to clean the glass. In this article, we take a look at the top rebounders from the event.
Luke Jarussi 6’5 PF Deny 2025 – I liked what Jarussi gave. He’s a below-the-rim rebounder, however, he cleaned the glass in volume, gobbling up rebounds in the game I saw. Size and length are his biggest strength, however, he combined it with a decent motor which allowed him to be effective on both backboards.
Luke Wiljanen 6’5 PF Global Basketball Club 2023 – Wiljanen played with great aggression. He has a good frame, and he made sure no one was able to push him around under the basket. The 4 man gets off the ground quickly and was able to use his leaping and frame to explode between defenders, winning more than his share of 50/50 rebounding opportunities.
Kenyon Simmons 6’2 SF Roots Academy 2023 – Simmons is an aggressive pogo stick type with a good frame. I’m always looking for guys who can get off the ground quickly, and Simmons displayed that with his second jump. He was aggressive, and agile, managing to grab a ton of out of area boards.
Henry Wilson 6’7 PF Roots 2024 (featured image) – Wilson is a prospect to keep a close eye on. He is a long, active, high-energy guy that plays with a high motor. Wilson’s combination of size, length, and flowing hair, provide the image of a tough wild, 100% effort player. He used every inch of that effort to clean the glass. His willingness to consistently sprint both ends, allowed him to effectively grab offensive and defensive rebounds.
Denis Anishenko 6’7 PF Global Basketball Club 2023 – Anishenko is a promising prospect that was a rock for GBC. The bruising forward was a terrific volume rebounder, showing strong hands and the willingness to pursue the basketball. He was at his best on the defensive end, where he could use his size, physicality, and fundamentals to block out and snag the board.
