Take a look at the top shooters of the weekend from the 17U level.
Seth Miron – 2023 – Wisconsin Crusaders Premier
Miron is a 6-foot-5 wing who was on fire on Sunday, hitting three threes and multiple shots in the mid-range. Stepped into transition threes and spotted up when on the wing. Smooth, natural release. His height really allows him to comfortably get off his shots when he wants.
Joshua Marques Dillon – 2024 – Spartan Sports
Dillon put up 17 first-half points, nine of which came from beyond the arch, in a win over AAA Academy. The 5-foot-8 guard created space for himself on the outside, excelled in the corner, and also weaved his way through the lane to find room to get his shots off inside. Very steady shooter who was on fire. He plays much bigger than his size and is always looking to get open off the ball.
Kyle Cannon – 2023 – WM Lakers Blast
Cannon hit three threes when I watched him on Saturday against GPP. His coaches drew up plays for him all game, giving him open space to heave up quick catch-and-shoot shots from beyond the arch. The lengthy 2-guard also had some efficient cuts inside and finished strong at the rim.
Joey Pantazis – 2024 – Spartan Sports
Pantazis sniped three threes and numerous mid-range jumpers in a win over AAA Academy. Elevates up high for his shots, and shoots it from just about anywhere on the floor. Has a strong frame at 6-foot-1, 180+ pounds, and used it to grab rebounds from the guard position and create space inside as well.
Larenz Walters – 2024 – Old Gold
I watched Walters twice over the weekend, and both times he showed off a smooth outside jumper. The 5-foot-11 guard hit three threes against God’s Gift, with all three coming on quick release catch-and-shoot opportunities. Caught him again on Sunday, and he did not disappoint. Had great body control on his drives and finished strong at the rack.
Vincent Payne – 2022 – God’s Gift
The 6-foot-2 lefty guard dominated with five three pointers in a tight game against Old Gold. The sharp-shooting lefty created for himself all game, using a confident handle, strong body, and electric three-point stroke to. Crafty ball-handler had the play of the game, splitting a double team and subsequently earning and and-one on a jump shot. Took over the game in the first half stayed hot throughout the entire game.
Christopher Kendrick – 2023 – CTM Miller (Black)
Kendrick is a 5-foot-10 guard who camped out in the corner and hit three threes from almost identical spots on the floor. Always was looking for his shot, and moved without the ball very well. Found openings in the defense and consistently hit all weekend.
Aidan Barrett – 2024 -Midwest Braves
The tallest sniper on this list, Barrett stands at 6-foot-6 and has a very perimeter-centric game. Shot the three well on Sunday when I watched him, hitting three shots from beyond the arch. Quick trigger and made great decisions with the ball.
