I was mainly focusing on the 2024s and 2025s this weekend, so let’s look at the Illinois guys who stood out in 2024 games that I saw throughout the weekend.
Jordan Brooks Jordan Brooks 6'2" | SG West Aurora | 2024 State IL – 6’2″ SG – Oswego (Illinois Wildboyz 2024)
Brooks is a saavy guard who plays the game with a high IQ. He moves well without the ball and looks to cut into the open spaces on the floor. He also finished it very well around the rim and had nice body control to finish around the defense as well as knocking down an outside shot. Brooks would finish with 13 in their Friday night loss.
Jeffrey Fleming Jeffrey Fleming 6'4" | SG Plainfield North | 2024 State IL – 6’2″ SF – Plainfield North (Illinois Wildboyz 2024)
Fleming is a good wing who can score it well at all three levels. He is a tough finisher inside who looks to attack the rim every touch. He also showed off some nice post moves with footwork and touch around the rim, and he uses his physicality to rebound it. Fleming also knocked down an outside shot to keep the defense honest. He finished with 16 points in the Friday night loss.
Tyler Threat – 6’0″ PG – Wabansie (Illinois Wildboyz 2024)
Threat is a smaller, quick point guard who does it all on the court. He sees the floor well, and he uses his quickness to make plays by looking to push it up the floor every single chance he gets. He also shot the ball well from the outside with a pair of triples.
Calvin Robins Jr Calvin Robins Jr 6'5" | PF Kenwood | 2024 State IL . – 6’5″ PF – Kenwood (Mac Irvin Fire 2024 EYBL)
Robins was one of the better players of the weekend, and although he is only 6’5, he was the best dunker of the weekend and one of the best athletes. He is a great finisher around the rim, and he threw down a monster two-handed dunk over a defender as well as a putback jam following a miss in the lane. I would say that he is one of the best athletes on the entire circuit right now, and he continues to put on a show every single week.
Josh Pickett Josh Pickett 6'5" | SG St. Laurence | 2024 State #277 Nation IL – 6’5″ SF – West Aurora (Mac Irvin Fire 2024 EYBL)
Pickett is a bigger, smooth wing who can do it all on the offensive end. He handles the ball well and looks to get downhill, but he always keeps his eyes up. He uses his quickness to get to the rim, and he is a silky smooth finisher. Pickett also shot it very well from the outside all weekend. He is an absolute playmaker who will be playing D1 basketball.
Chris Riddle Chris Riddle 6'5" | SF Kenwood | 2024 State #204 Nation IL – 6’6″ SF – Compass Prep (Mac Irvin Fire 2024 EYBL)
Riddle was has probably the best weekend for Mac Irvin as he put his scoring ability on full display. He looks to attack the rim, and he knows how to get to his spot in the mid-range while also shooting the ball from the outside. He was a leader all weekend, and he will be a high-level Division 1 basketball player in the future.
