Hyattsville, MD. — Prep Hoops was two deep last night at DeMatha Catholic High School for Capitol Hoops Summer League as it was the second night of the season. Adam Ayalew and I split up the action and we were both able to get our eyes on a lot of good prospects from all around the DMV. Below are five standouts that I saw...

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="957040" first="Corey" last="Chesley"] | Good Counsel

If there is a MVP so far in the young Capitol Hoops Summer League, it is 6’4 guard [player_tooltip player_id="957040" first="Corey" last="Chesley"] of Good Counsel. On the opening night he dropped 29 points in a win and then backed it up last night with a 22 point performance. Chesley is a tremendous athlete that can finish strong above the rim and get to the rim at ease. Chesley was easily one of the top offensive players in the gym last night.

2024 Isaiah Vick | Patriot

Isaiah Vick is an intriguing prospect for Patriot and was super impressive on both ends of the floor last night in a win over National Christian. Vick finished the night with 19 points and 6 rebounds in a very nice two way performance on both sides of the ball. Vick is super bouncy with long legs standing at 6’6. It will be fun to watch Vick develop over the next two years.

2024 Austin Trought | National Christian

There were actually a couple of guys from National Christian that could have been talked about but what Trought did last night can’t go unnoticed. Trought was an efficient 11-16 from the field finishing with 25 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Trought showed a complete offensive performance last night and is a prospect that should be monitored as the summer approaches. Solomon Hill and Zion McQueen also had good performances for National Christian.

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1259671" first="Jahleel" last="Jackson"] | Potomac

The 2024 guard got it going from the start last night and led Potomac in a convincing win over The Heights as he finished with 18 points. Known for his shooting, Jackson contributed with four triples. Jackson has recently taken visits to Virginia and Mount St. Mary’s and is hoping to visit Harvard and Bryant later on in the summer.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1114027" first="Aidan" last="Harris"] | St. Mary’s Annapolis

Harris is having a really nice summer on the AAU circuit and it carried over to summer league last night as he did everything he could to try and get St. Mary’s in the win column. You could tell Harris is playing with a lot of confidence right now which is helping his overall game and offensively he was on point finishing with 16 points while going 7/11 from the field. If Harris can keep this momentum going, more schools will start to get involved with Harris.
