A trio of 5 star recruits heads Florida’s 2023 recruiting class. Whether it’s potential, big game production, or sheer skill, our top 5 has it all. With approximately 15 high major prospects among our top 200 players, it’s time to see what separates the 5 guys in this article from the field.

#1 [player_tooltip player_id="957019" first="Kwame" last="Evans"]

Evans edges out the field thanks to his potential. Standing at 6’10 with a beautiful shooting stroke beyond the arc, the upside is there for the combo forward. He was one of three juniors that cracked Montverde’s rotation and started many of those games. Used more like a floor spacer than a primary scoring option that could all change with the graduation of two McDonald’s All Americans and several high major recruits. History has favored the rising senior that head coach Kevin Boyle trusts to play heavy minutes as a junior.

#2 [player_tooltip player_id="709255" first="Sean" last="Stewart"]

Stewart became a five star recruit, a Duke commit and made a legitimate argument for the top prospect in Florida. He’s explosive, a matchup nightmare, and one of the hardest playing guys in the country. Stewart is a great two-way player that can erase shots on one end and put you on a poster on the other. He had great battles with the top prospects in the state, including a duel against Florida Player Of The Year and Ohio State signee [player_tooltip player_id="712136" first="Brice" last="Sensabaugh"]. Stewart continues to grow as an offensive player as his quickness, strength, and midrange shotmaking power a developing face up game. After looking like a star on the EYBL circuit, the resume speaks for itself as he closes in on the number 1 spot.

#3 [player_tooltip player_id="709215" first="Marvel" last="Allen"]

The two time state champion is taking his talents to Montverde Academy. Elite defense and playmaking have been his calling card all year. The 6’5 point guard is expanding his offensive game with pull up jumpers and an increase in his free throw percentage. Whoever lands Allen is getting a winner through and through.

#4 [player_tooltip player_id="812627" first="Edgerrin" last="James Jr."]

James Jr. rose to the top 5 behind the strength of folk hero-like performances. Stories like him not playing the first half of a game and then using the second half to score 33 points and hit the game-winning shot speaks to some of the big performances he posted this year. He’ll come into his senior season with a college ready body and a dangerous pull up game. James Jr. is a physical guard that excels at getting to the line. The rising senior currently sits top 10 in assists during EYBL play. High major offers continue to roll in as he makes strides as a playmaker.

#5 [player_tooltip player_id="814550" first="Dylan" last="James"]

James’ potential and defensive presence keeps him in the state’s top 5. The agile 6’8 forward can space the floor, score above the rim, and guard every position on the court. Despite being thin, he’s a rim protector with the length and bounce to make scoring in the paint a chore. James has a complimentary game that pushed Winter Haven to a state final four appearance alongside a pair of top 35 sophomores. He holds offers from some of the best defensive high major programs in the country.
