10 Great 17u Guards At Rumble In The Rapids

<p>There was tremendous play all over multiple gyms this weekend at the Prep Hoops Circuit’s Rumble In The Rapids. Let’s start by looking at 10 guards that had great performances at the event.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="986247" first="Amari" last="Allen"] (2023, G, CTM Elite 17u, Hamtramck, MI)</strong></p> <p>Allen showed why he’s considered an elite perimeter defender in Michigan, and probably beyond that. He forced turnovers and turned defense into offense all weekend. Allen showed solid positional strength as well.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="787660" first="Ashton" last="Atwater"] (2022, G, United Persuit 2023, Otsego, MI)</strong></p> <p>Atwater is a flat out bucket getter. He scored at all 3 levels and was explosive to say the least. Atwater is a leader that talks on the floor and sets the tone for his team. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="981201" first="Levi" last="Birkholz"] (2023, G, Wisconsin Crusaders 2023 Premier, Lakeside Lutheran, WI)</strong></p> <p>Birkholz was one of the most impressive prospects in the gym at Rumble In The Rapids. He made big plays at big moments in almost every game. Birkholz dished and scored with the highest of efficiancy.</p> <p><strong>Caleb David (2023, G, HDX 17, Francis Parker, IL)</strong></p> <p>If there was a Rumble In The Rapids MOP, David might win it. He absolutely went off all weekend on the offensive end. David could seemingly score at will and from all 3 levels.</p> <p><strong>Caedon Holly (2023, G, Wisconsin Crusaders 2023 Elite, Brillion, WI)</strong></p> <p>Holly may not have put up huge numbers, but there was way more to his game that stats. He was an efficient floor general that got the ball to where it needed to be for his team to see offensive success.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1300899" first="Terrance" last="Jones"] (2023, G, Michigan Cagers 2023, Kalamazoo Central, MI)</strong></p> <p>Jones is developing a reputation as a top notch perimeter defender in the state of Michigan. While this is true, in a marquee game against the Wisconsin Crusaders, he went off for 16 2nd half points. Jones is a key player to watch for the rest of the summer.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1431572" first="Tamir" last="Runinkevich"] (2023, G, Top 1 Basketball Club 2023 Select, Berkley, MI)</strong></p> <p>Runinkevich will see his ranking rise drastically at the next update. He was one of the best pure shooters that I saw in the gym on Saturday. When Runinkevich gets his jumper in a groove, it’s all over from there. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1130940" first="Micah" last="Saunders"] (2023, G, Midwest Stampede 2023, Adrian, MI)</strong></p> <p>Saunders has stayed under the radar for long enough now. He’s a terrific athlete that can break down most defenders and get to the rim. Saunders is in terrific physical condition and can log heavy minutes with no effect on his performance.</p> <p><strong>Larenz Walters (2024, G, K3 Elite 2023, Kankakee, IL)</strong></p> <p>Walters played up and flat out made plays all weekend. He’s a terrific all around athlete that finessed buckets on a consistent basis. Walters was fast down the floor, often beating the defense back.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1300895" first="Dakari" last="Thomas"] (2022, G, Macomb County Cougars, Royal Oak, MI)</strong></p> <p>Thomas flaunted a nice game at Rumble In The Rapids. He has a nice athletic skill set and can play at any pace. Thomas was a solid scorer for his team in a tight loss in an excellent comeback.  </p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
