Jovan Taylor 2022 6’7 Edna Karr High School, LA (Runway “Take Flight” Jets 2022)
Jovan is a skilled big man who showed off his ability to protect the rim and finish in the paint. He is good at using his size to his advantage in the paint, and rejecting shots with ease. He displayed good foot speed that allows him to get up and down the court with ease. He is a leader on the court who showed an ability to lead his teammates as he anchors their defense in the paint. I would like to see him work on his shot from the outside and the ability in which he scores from beyond 18 feet. I would like to see him work on releasing the ball with more touch when using hook shots and shots out of the low post with his back to the basket.
Malike Rinehart 2022 5’11 Eleanor McMain High School, LA (Runway “Take Flight” Jets 2022)
Malike is a high level guard who is not afraid to do the dirty work on the offensive glass and fight for loose balls all over the court. I was very impressed and intrigued with his ability to rebound the ball for his size. He was incredibly willing to do anything to help the team win, and snatches the ball off the glass and always has his head up to make the right plays in transition. His aggressiveness allowed his team to play in the full court and run the break. I would like to see him work on his ability to score off the bounce in the midrange and beyond the arc.
Arian Elizondo 2022 6’0 McAllen Memorial High School, TX (McAllen Ballers)
Arian is a skilled guard who knows how to absorb contact and finish in the paint. I was very impressed with his ability to fight through contact from forwards at the rim, he was able to change his shot angle and finish around his opponent’s outstretched arms. He is great at attacking open space in the full court and using his handle to manipulate the defense. He consistently got to his spots all over the floor and made the right pass to find his teammates an even better shot. He was willing to swing the ball around to manipulate the defense and allows his teammates room to attack the open space. I would like to see him more willing to shoot from the perimeter and knock down shots to threaten the defense.
George Valdez Jr 2022 5’10 Medina Valley High School, TX (XHB)
George is a skilled point guard who sees the floor well but is also not afraid to fight on the glass or on the floor to help his team succeed. He was an efficient scorer off the dribble and routinely found space in the midrange after freezing his defender with a crossover. I was very impressed with his ability to do it all on the offensive end of the floor, he found his teammates with timely passes to set them up for jumpers on the outside and also while they cut to the rim. I was very impressed with his hustle, he was never afraid to get on the floor after a loose ball, and even lived on the glass which was very impressive for his position and size. I loved his willingness to fight on both ends of the floor.
