Especially with the extra juice that comes with it being a live recruiting period, some mental and physical exhaustion is bound to set in. However, at The Stage hosted by Prep Hoops on Sunday, you wouldn’t have known that based on the level of play taking place at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Even the early 8:00 games featured some outstanding individual performances.
Over the course of the next couple of days our Prep Hoops staff across the country will be looking back at all of the action from The Stage during the first live recruiting period. All-Tournament Teams will be announced, more notebooks will be written, and superlatives will be handed out. Before diving into all of that beginning on Monday, let’s quickly take a look at five prospects who stood out on Sunday.
Brody Buchanan (Fairland H.S. 2025/Mid Ohio Pumas 2025): A young playmaking guard out of Ohio, Buchanan led his team in both scoring and assists today with a strong performance. Had a nice freshman season over at Fairland.
Marcus Eaves (North Hopkins H.S. 2023/Griffin Elite White 2023): One of the most impressive individual showings of the day came at 8:00 a.m. as Eaves came out of the gate with three straight three-pointers to begin the day. The athletic 6’4″ guard had 20 points at halftime showing off true three-level scoring ability.
Julius Gizzi (New Palestine H.S. 2025/D1 Indiana 2025): Gizzi was excellent for D1 Indiana 2025 on Sunday using his athleticism and strength in the backcourt to dominate his defenders. Very skilled with the ball in his hands, Gizzi is definitely a guard to watch in the 2025 class.
Jeremiah Fears (Joliet West H.S. 2025/Hoops 4 Health 2023): Playing up two full years, Fears was arguably one of the best Class of 2025 prospects at The Stage. Hoops 4 Health took it on the chin against Team GRIII Elite, but Fears shot the ball very well and led the way in the scoring department.
Cayden Vasko (Bosco Institute 2022/Team GRIII 2023 Elite): Vasko is a bigger guard that played very well in front of several college coaches throughout the weekend. On Sunday morning he got to the basket consistently using his size to finish at the rim. He is an excellent rebounder from the guard spot as well. Could be an impact late get in the recruiting cycle for some college program.
