In recognition of that theme, Prep Hoops will announce a series of “Final Fours” this week.
This will be four players selected for their demonstration of a specific trait, regardless of school size and graduation class.
Here are Kansas’ Final Four Athletes: Each one will be on the grassroots scene!
Ketraleus Aldridge Ketraleus Aldridge 6'4" | SF Highland Park | 2023 State KS , 6’3 W, Highland Park, 2023: His athleticism was a difference maker on both ends of the floor, being a rangy defender and a big time weak side shot blocker. On the offensive end he can get up quickly and with force above the rim either off the bounce or flying in for lobs and tip ins. One of the more springy players off the bounce when attacking the rim and gets up to dunk the ball in traffic. Had highlight plays in each game, should be fun to see this spring and summer playing in the open court game.
BJ Redic BJ Redic 6'2" | SF Andover | 2023 State KS , 6’2 G, Andover, 2023: A versatile guard based on his skill with the ball, scoring flexibility, and ability to guard point guards 94 ft and bang with more physical players. Redic in transition is a bucket getter both as leading the break and a wing runner catching and pushing. Covers a ton of ground in a small amount of dribbles, can rise up in transition in traffic, and is a very good finisher with contact. Redic was also a big highlight maker. Redic’s elite athleticism makes him a must watch on defense as well as he is lock down defender.
Tyson Ruud Tyson Ruud 6'5" | SF Basehor-Linwood | 2023 State KS , 6’6 W, Basehor-Linwood, 2023 (Pictured): His stock is rising as fast as he can get off the ground, super quick. Ruud’s athletic ability was put on full display this year playing inside and out for a very good Basehor-Linwood team. Diving down the lane and catching passes for scores has led to some eye popping moments for Ruud and his team was a great passing unit which got him some great opportunities to catch the ball with some momentum and space which allowed him to rise up and throw down some big time dunks. Has long strides in the open court and when the motor is running its hard to keep him from the rim.
Avery Johnson Avery Johnson 6'2" | CG Maize | 2023 KS , 6’3 G, Maize, 2023: The other worldly athletic quarterback is also that wiely regarded with his athleticism on the basketball court. Has locked down some really quick and explosive guards on the year and his transition from primary or secondary defender to getting out on the break is second to none. Johnson can really leap and take off while on the bounce from big time distances and can go finish strong through and above defenders.
