But we haven’t forgotten some of the studs of the summer of 2021 who, for whatever reason, didn’t make a big splash this past school year. Our eyes will be peeled to see what kind of development these guys made over the past year.
Here are some standout wings and bigs from last summer who will be worth watching this spring (in alphabetical order):
Paul Bloomer, 6-foot-6 forward, 2024, Kapaun:
Kapaun was absolutely loaded last year (and will be again next season for that matter), so getting playing time was tough. Bloomer was an important reserve for the state-bound Crusaders as a big reserve who could step out and play on the wing and drop the midrange shot. For most other schools, Bloomer would be a standout. Can’t wait to see him this summer.
Jayce Glasper, 6-foot-2 forward, 2024, Wichita Northwest:
There was just too much talent in front of him for Glasper to get a lot of playing time as a sophomore. The Grizzlies will graduate a ton of that talent, opening the door for Glasper to make a big impact next year. He can handle the ball and slash to the goal, and he is very smooth and athletic.
John Hauserman

It’s not like Hauserman didn’t make an impact on the varsity at Carroll. He averaged 4 points and 3 boards as a sophomore. But his performance last summer would indicate he’s going to take a big step as he grows and develops. He has quick hands and can block shots on defense, and he can be a mismatch problem with his size and ability to move and handle the ball.
Sylvester Jackson, 6-foot-5 forward, 2024, Junction City:
Jackson really stood out last summer as an athletic big who didn’t mind playing a supporting role. He runs the floor and crashes the glass with tenacity. The Blue Jays were just too deep and talented for Jackson to get much time as a sophomore. But watch out for this developing big man whose attitude and effort stand out as much as his ability.
Blake Kilian Blake Kilian 6'6" | SF Blue Valley West | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-5 forward, 2024, Blue Valley West:
Prep Hoops scouts had Kilian about as high as any big forward around last summer. He impressed with his passing and IQ on the perimeter, as well as his length and athleticism in the paint. He is a presence on the offensive glass and has polish in the post. He wasn’t able to dent the varsity lineup last year, but watch out for this guy to have another big summer.
Austin O’Gorman, 6-foot-2 forward, 2004, Olathe South:
An athletic wing who can do a lot of things, O’Gorman was mainly a JV player as a sophomore. But he’s so good at moving without the ball, cutting and catching to score, and hustling at the defensive end, he should be a factor in the near future.
Jack Powell, 6-foot-2 forward, 2024, Blue Valley North:
Powell really impressed last summer with a game that’s versatile at both ends. He is athletic enough to defend nearly every player on the floor, and he is a creative and disruptive force. He should continue to hone his offensive skills with another summer.
