Instead of four tournaments being held in Indianapolis, along with EYBL down in Orlando and some good teams up in Grand Rapids, the events are all across the country this weekend. Here at Prep Hoops Indiana we will be keeping tabs on teams in Kansas City, Missouri (Prep Hoops, UAA/UA Rise), Spartanburg, South Carolina (3SSB/Adidas Gold), Indianapolis, Indiana (EYBL, Hardwood Invitational, Grassroots XL), and Louisville, Kentucky (NY2LA). If you are looking for the event featuring the most Indiana-based AAU teams you definitely want to head to the Kentucky Expo Center for NY2LA’s Grassroots Showcase. With so many Indiana prospects going down there let’s take a look at 10 names to know at the big event.
Jacob Cherry Jacob Cherry 6'9" | C Eastern-Pekin | 2023 State IN (Eastern-Pekin H.S. 2023/Kyle Guy Elite Black 2023): You can’t teach size and Cherry has a 6’10” frame. He is a mobile big man the rim runs well, can rebound his area, and protect the rim defensively. Cherry just received his first scholarship offer from Bethel and will have a lot of eyes on him this weekend.
Austin Cripe Austin Cripe 6'3" | SG West Noble | 2023 State IN (West Noble H.S. 2023/5Star 2023): Cripe is an excellent athlete on the wing that can really attack the basket off of the dribble. Shifty driver with a tight handle and some explosiveness around the rim. Definitely a prospect to keep an eye on in Louisville.
Tucker Day Tucker Day 6'7" | C Canterbury | 2024 State IN (Homestead H.S. 2024/Ohio Buckets-Garcia 2024): Playing with Ohio Buckets-Garcia, Day was excellent up in Grand Rapids a couple of weeks ago. The 6’8″ big man is one of the best post prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2024 and should really turn some heads at the Grassroots Showcase.
Tyson Good Tyson Good 6'6" | SF Lewis Cass | 2023 State IN (Cass H.S. 2023/Grand Park Premier Black 2023): Good is a really intriguing prospect that is still flying under the radar heading into this live recruiting period. A 6’6″ wing with good skill level, he is very versatile on both ends of the floor. College programs definitely need to get out and evaluate him.
Jamie Hodges Jr. (Michigan City H.S. 2023/94 Feet Elite 2023): In a 2023 class very deep with guards, Hodges Jr. is as dynamic of a playmaker as anyone. The 5’10” point guard is super quick off of the bounce and a creative finisher around the basket. He is the engine for this 94 Feet Elite team that has a lot of impressive talent.
Albren Johnson Albren Johnson 6'5" | PF Cathedral | 2025 State IN (Cathedral H.S. 2025/94 Feet Elite 2025): There aren’t a lot of prospects at the 15u level that have the physical gifts that the 6’5″ Johnson has. He moves well, is already very strong, and is a great finisher around the basket. Interesting forward to keep an eye on as he continues to develop his game.
David Meriwether David Meriwether 6'10" | C Lawrence North | 2023 UT (Indianapolis Metropolitan 2023/George Hill All Indy 2023): There are a ton of guys to watch on this loaded George Hill All Indy 2023 team, but the 6’10” Meriwether is one that has really burst onto the scene. Recently named an Indiana Junior All-Star, the big man just continues to get better and better. Coaches at all levels need to see him this live period.
Azavier Robinson Azavier Robinson 6'1" | PG Lawrence North | 2025 State #88 Nation IN (Lawrence North H.S. 2025/George Hill All Indy 2024): Playing up a year with the 16u group, Robinson still has been one of the most impressive players of the spring. He is an excellent playmaker off of the bounce and very athletic. Indiana’s Class of 2025 is very talented and Robinson is among the best of the best.
Robert Sorensen Robert Sorensen 6'0" | PG Guerin Catholic | 2024 State IN (Guerin Catholic H.S. 2024/Kyle Guy Elite Black 2024): Sorensen was named a “stock-riser” by NY2LA after a strong performance in Indianapolis and will look to parlay that into another big weekend down in Louisville. He can really shoot the basketball and is skilled enough with the ball to get his own shot. Will be one to follow this spring and summer.
Jaymen Townsend Jaymen Townsend 6'6" | SF Marion | 2025 State #248 Nation IN (Marion H.S. 2025/George Hill All Indy 2025): Townsend is among the top 2025 prospects in the state. The athletic 6’5″ wing is excellent attacking the basket and is a force in transition. Had an excellent freshman year at Marion and is off to a great start this spring. College coaches will want to be on him early and often.
