The Hustle Region Circuit consists of AAU Programs from California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, and New Mexico. The circuit features 10 stops including the Hustle Region Final in Irvine July 15th – 17th. Stop number one got underway this past weekend in Seal Beach California, with the Hustle Season Kickoff. The event which took place on Saturday, April 2nd through Sunday, April 3rd featured 46 teams ranging from 15U to 17U. The event also featured several quality Floor Generals. In this article, we take a look at the top PGs from the event.
Caleb Costello 6’2 PG Gamepoint IE 2023 – Costello grew on me as the weekend progressed. He was aggressive and, attacked in straight-line drives. He has good size for the position, along with a good next play mentality that caught my eye. He was able to handle and scored at the rim off of those straight-line attacks.
Quincy Johnson PG IE Fire 2025 – When it comes to attacking downhill Johnson was one of the more consistent players. When it comes to finishing after the attack, the PG may have been the best on the weekend. He had a ridiculous circus and 1, that had even the college basketball players in attendance up out of their seats. That was his game all weekend, attack, attack attack. He never deviated from that strategy, finishing at the rim with a few other remarkable layups.
Xavier Ogle Xavier Ogle 5'8" | PG Rancho Bernardo | 2023 State CA-S 5’9 PG D1 Southern California 2023 – I really loved the pace at which Ogle played at. The Floor General controlled the action for D1 getting them good looks on almost every trip down the floor. To score he mixed in some jumpers with rim attacks. Behind his play D1 finished the weekend with a 3 – 1 record.
Roderick Johnson Roderick Johnson 5'10" | PG Somerset Losee | 2025 State NV 5’6 PG Hard 2 Guard 2025 (featured image) – Quick was one of the best floor-spacing PGs on the weekend. It may not even be applicable to label him a floor spacer, as he proved this weekend, that he can do more than just shoot the ball. The handled against pressure, and put some pressure of his own on defenders, with his downhill attacks to the rim. He didn’t forget his strap, as he showed the ability to knock down long-range jumpers as well, making several from behind the NBA 3 point line.
Prince Turner 6’1 PG Gamepoint IE 2023 – If I had an all-wiggle team, Turner would have definitely been on it. He was able to get by almost everyone that was put in front of him. Turner used good hesitation moves to freeze defenders and showed a nice cross-over COD. He also showed good control on his drives using Euros, to avoid charges. He had one of the tightest handles at the event.
Jerimiah Calhoun 6’2 PG Team Eleate 2023 – Calhoun may have been the best overall PG I saw this weekend. He controlled the entire game, playing at a pace that allowed TE to be successful. He played the game like a computer, seemingly knowing when to get his big a touch, hit a running wing in transition, or get a bucket for himself. He was masterful with his mid-range game, using his size to get into the paint, get to his spot, and score. Behind the play of the PG, Team Eleate finished with an undefeated record.
Dalton Runyan 6’2 CG D1 Southern California 2023 – Runyan has good size for the position and he backed it up with some skill. He showed the ability to score when he needed to, but I was impressed with his draw and kick ability. He’s more of a combo than a pure point, but he showed he can be effective playing both on and off the ball. Runyan’s poise and shot-making ability helped propel D1 to a 3-1 record on the weekend.
