G EJ Breland EJ Breland 6'0" | PG St. Patrick | 2025 State IL , Grind Family Chicago – St. Patrick, 2025
It was a full-team effort this morning for Grind Family Chicago in a blowout win over GRIII. Although he didn’t fill up the scoring sheet, I saw Breland display a variety of skills to stand out. He started the game with a nice floater over two defenders, and he followed that up with a pull-up three with a hand in his face. Later on, Breland showed tremendous offensive and defensive vision. He intercepted several passes and got assists to open teammates down low. The St. Patrick product has a Tremendous IQ for a player at his level.
F Nehemia Lewis, Epic Hoopz – Burlington (IA), 2025
Lewis showed lots of physicality down low in both games he played this morning. He’a got a large body for a 6’2″ forward and took advantage of that against Team Iowa. He started the game with 15 first-half points and surprisingly hit two threes. The Iowa product also got lots of second-chance points as he outsized almost all of his opponents. He put on a similar show later on against M14 Hoops. His second-half performance was vital as he found open lanes for his teammates to find him down low. Lewis crashed the glass after almost every shot and made a big impact to win two games this morning.
G Bradley Stratton, Flight Athletics – Marmion Academy, 2025
Stratton was the most pure scorer I noticed this morning. He scored in a variety of ways for his team in a blowout win against Full Package Neon. Almost every shot he took went in. I saw him make floaters, three’s, contact layups, and fadeaways this morning. Stratton dropped 19 first-half points and saw minimal action in the second half with his team up comfortably. He finished with 23 points.
G Leo Perettie, Michigan Gonies – Grosse Point North (MI), 2025
Perettie was the best slashing guard I watched this morning. He’s very quick driving to the lane and can score through contact. Perettie excelled on both offense and defense. He focused several turnovers that led to easy transition buckets for him and his teammates. A chase down block in the second half showed his athletic abilities. Perettie also displayed some impressive passing skills as the Michigan product got numerous assists throughout the game. Perettie finished with 26 points.
G Carter York, M14 Hoops – Sycamore, 2025
York is a very underrated two-way player. I saw him get several transition buckets off of turnovers he forced this morning. He also displayed a variety of ball-handling and playmaking skills. There were times where he’d drive and kick it back to an open shooter for three. His late-game free throws helped M14 seal the deal this morning in a 58-51 win over God’s Gift.
