Chi-Town Tip Off: Top GameChangers
In this article:
At the conclusion of each tournament, a new recurring article will be the ’GameChangers’ series – sponsored by GameChanger. Prospects included in the GameChangers series will be prospects that really positively impacted games for their team.
Here are some top GameChangers:
Malachi Wright — SF — Illinois Elite 17U
Wright really made a statement this weekend at the Chi-Town Tip Off. Leading his team to a 3-1 record, Wright was a playmaker on both ends of the court. On offense, he used his size to own the paint. He grabbed offensive rebounds and threw down big dunks. On defense, he rebounded aggressively and used his length to block shots.
Michael Crawford — G — Pittsburg Pioneers 16U
Crawford is a very talented scorer who was getting buckets all weekend. Playing for a solid Pittsburg Pioneers squad, the guard was one of the best players on the court at all times. He is very talented as a scorer. He can score well at all three levels, using his athletic ability to convert on tough shots from everywhere.
Jax Abalos Jax Abalos 6'7" | SF Batavia | 2025 State IL — SG — M14 Hoops 15U
Abalos was one of the best shooters that competed in Chicago this past weekend. When M14 Hoops needed it most, it was Abalos who stepped up. On Saturday morning, the shooting guard drilled a corner three to force overtime in a game against Team Rose. Abalos made four threes in this game and was the epitome of a GameChanger.
Joseph Chaney — SG — R 4 L 17U
Chaney was a real difference-maker for R 4 L’s 17U squad this weekend. I liked how the shooting guard competed hard on defense. He did a nice job of using his quick hands to tip passes and create steals. On offense, Chaney was a sharpshooter who opposing teams were forced to respect from beyond the arc.
Jake Fiegen Jake Fiegen 6'3" | SG New Trier | 2023 State IL — SG — Full Package 17U
Fiegen is no-doubt one of the best shooters that I have ever had the pleasure of covering. Every time he lets it fly from deep, you think that it is going in. At the Chi-Town Tip Off, the shooting guard averaged 19 points per game and shot 53 percent from three. Smaller college programs should take a good look at Fiegen.
Emory Marshall Emory Marshall 6'0" | PG Montini | 2023 IL — PG — Illinois Jaguars 17U
Marshall had an impressive showing at The Stage in Indianapolis. But I thought that he played even better this past weekend at the Chi-Town Tip Off. The point guard is a speedy prospect that is able to use his quickness to find success on both ends. He is a slick finisher on offense and is very good at being a pest on defense.
