CBG Grassroots Showcase Standouts (Part 1)

<p>Commonwealth Basketball Group kicked off the grassroots season with a one day showcase event in Williamsburg featuring teams from all over the state to allow teams to get their warm up in.</p> <p>Here’s a look at part one of the standouts from the event.</p> <p class="p1"><strong><span class="s1">[player_tooltip player_id="1387026" first="Xavier" last="Brown"] | 6’2” PG | Team Loaded VA 2022</span></strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Brown-Xavier-CBG.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1421153" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Brown-Xavier-CBG-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Brown will be playing the summer with Loaded VA until he makes a decision as to whether he’ll commit to school or take a prep year, and he’s the perfect fit for this team as an unselfish, dynamic guard that’s also a leader. He has great speed in the open floor and can get in the paint where he’s an athletic finisher, he sets the tone on both ends of the floor and can guard the length of the floor and he’s a floor general who can make others better as well.</span></p> <p class="p1"><strong><span class="s1">[player_tooltip player_id="999619" first="Yuri" last="Manns"] | 6’3” WG | Team Loaded VA 2023</span></strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Manns-Yuri-Loaded.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1421161" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Manns-Yuri-Loaded-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Manns continues to show improvement and this past weekend he was excellent as a secondary option that shot the ball well from deep and in the midrange and will be a good scorer off the bench for them. He showed good finishing ability in transition and when he got downhill, he knocked down shots from deep and he was good off the bounce in the half court too.</span></p> <p class="p1"><strong><span class="s1">[player_tooltip player_id="815595" first="Judah" last="Egbo"] | 6’8” C | Team Loaded VA 2023</span></strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Egbo-Judah-CBG.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1421162" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Egbo-Judah-CBG-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Egbo showed flashes of what makes him so intriguing with his mobility, athleticism and high motor for a player of his size. He’s a hard worker who when pushed runs the floor hard and has big time finishing ability above the rim, he can protect the rim and rebound on both ends of the floor and he had a couple of plays that were very impressive above the rim.</span></p> <p class="p1"><strong><span class="s1">Davin Cosby | 6’4” WG | Team Loaded VA 2023</span></strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Cosby-Davin-Loaded.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1421165" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Cosby-Davin-Loaded-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Cosby is set to explode this summer with Loaded, especially if he scores the basketball the way he scored it at the showcase event. The 6’4” wing is one of the top shooters in VA and separates himself from other shooters with his ability to set his feet quickly on the move and get into his shot with good rhythm, he has improved in his ability o put it on the deck and get to the rim and when he gets it going he can hang points on your head in bunches.</span></p> <p class="p1"><strong><span class="s1">[player_tooltip player_id="1241926" first="Justin" last="Bass"] | 6’0” PG | Team Push 2023</span></strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Bass-Justin-CBG.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1421167" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Bass-Justin-CBG-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Bass was fantastic for Push at the event and continued to play well this past weekend at Big Shots from what I was told as well. The 6’0” guard from Kecoughtan showed that he can handle the rock and get in the lane to make plays for himself and others, he can knock down shots from deep consistently both off the catch and off the bounce and he scored it efficiently from multiple levels while making plays for others too.</span></p>
