In the 3A title game, Shady Side Academy defeated Avonworth in a team effort headlined by two players.
Check out who those players were, as well as the top performers from the Avonworth side.
Eli Teslovich Eli Teslovich 6'1" | CG Shady Side Academy | 2024 State PA – 6’0″ G – Shady Side Academy
Teslovich, or “ET3” as the fans chanted, carried Shady Side to the title victory with a strong 20-point showing. The point guard hit nine of his 15 shots from the field, and also grabbed three rebounds. Teslovich is as shifty as they come in class 3A, and showed it by using hesitation moves and getting his defender on his back hip often. Has a real knack for the ball, whether it is on loose 50/50 balls or on the defensive glass. He passed it very crisply with intent and finished at the rack with both hands. Super impressed with the sophomore.
Peter Kramer Peter Kramer 6'4" | SG Hampton | 2024 State PA – 6’4″ W/F – Shady Side Academy
Kramer dropped an 18-point, 8-assist clinic in the championship win. The sophomore is a super long wing and plays well beyond his years. Poised under pressure, he hit 1 of his three three-point attempts and threw down an alley-oop in traffic late in the game to seal the deal. Kramer will be a top name to know in the next few years in the WPIAL, regardless of class. Strong candidate for all-weekend team.
Nate Mallory – F – Shady Side
Mallory hit each of his four field goals, with most coming on the low block. Strong paint presence who is excellent at getting position on both sides, whether to box out or to post up under the basket. Consistent finisher who Shady Side really relied on when its guards struggled to shoot from deep. Bright future ahead for the two-sport star (football ATH).
Jordan Kolenda – 6’3″ G/W – Avonworth
The Kent State baseball commit showed out with an 18-point second half in the loss to Shady Side. Added on to his seven first-half points for a total of 25. He kept Avonworth close while freshman Rowan Carmichael Rowan Carmichael 5'11" | CG Avonworth | 2025 State PA struggled shooting all night. Hit three of his five three-point attempts in one of the best deep shooting showings of the entire weekend. Kolenda is a strong athlete with great length and real good ball skills.
Rowan Carmichael Rowan Carmichael 5'11" | CG Avonworth | 2025 State PA – 5’9″ G – Avonworth
Carmichael, a freshman, scored 19 points on 7-for-18 shooting. Hit three of his ten three-point shots and went through some cold streaks, but still put on a show from the point. Carmichael showcased an elite handle for a freshman with plenty of flare to go with it. Pulled spin moves, sharp crossovers, and step-backs all night and had the crowd on its feet with multiple moves. Certainly one of the most intriguing underclassman prospects in the area.
