The bright lights can bring out the best of men. The players listed and featured below improved their reputations

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1019407" first="Daniel" last="Egbuniwe"] (FACS)

How can a Mr. Basketball Finalist do more to improve their stock? Daniel obliterated the Clarksville Academy Wildcats with a mixture of post pounding and whimsical outside shooting. He truly played like a Top 3 player in the state, at least in this one event. To be fair, Clarksville Academy is not Bartlett and the competition level is certainly lower than the best 4A teams.

"Coach told us to play every game like it is a state championship game," said Egbuniwe after his semifinal win over Clarksville Academy.

2023 Jacques Wyatt III (Clarksville Academy)

Wyatt III was a complete unknown to PrepHoopsTN prior to this weekend. He plays with nice size of 6-foot-5. His rebounding was effective, but the shooting touch, like everybody on Clarksville Academy was ice-cold. The potential looks like an NAIA/D2- ceiling, with the right amount of commitment to off-season training and weight-lifting. The junior displayed some explosiveness in the final two minutes, after the game was well out of reach. Irrelevant as it was, Wyatt III unveiled his potential to a greater degree. He finished with six points (3-9 FG) and seven rebounds.

MLK Roster
#2 [player_tooltip player_id="1400906" first="Avery" last="Townsend"] (2025)
#11 [player_tooltip player_id="1400924" first="Kquinn" last="Donald"] (2023)
#13 Chris Mays (2022)
#22 Simeon Williams (2023)
#23 [player_tooltip player_id="1400910" first="Kendall" last="Solomon"] (2024)

2023 Raz Armstrong (East Nashville)

Quick second-jumper, Raz was defending everything around the rim against a spunky Pearl-Cohn team. He was instrumental in aiding East Nashville's Regional Tournament Championship.

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1400910" first="Kendall" last="Solomon"] (MLK)

Solomon was unranked simply because he was unseen before this weekend. Facing Portland, Kendall glided around the floor and created with a low sightline despite his height. He attacks kind of like a running back even though he is listed 6-foot-4. The shooting touch is soft.

2023 Freddy Paxton Jr. (Portland)

Freddy is a new name to us. His wiggle is tremendous. Paxton Jr. is not playing alongside many finishers or elite shooters, but he really dismantles a defense with the dribble. It will be interesting to see if he can build his reputation. He stands 5-foot-10.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1219203" first="Drey" last="Moss"] (Brentwood Academy)

The BA game was frustrating for a great team, and the team took the loss hard, as you would expect. One silver lining to the cloud was [player_tooltip player_id="1219203" first="Drey" last="Moss"], who scored nine points on 4-5 shooting with six rebounds, and two assists along with four fouls. Considering Moss was rebounding against 3-4 future D1 players and scoring in a big game, this was a wonderful showcase of his skills. Moss was a guy first evaluated last spring during his AAU run with PSB-Nashville 16u. The quickness is wonderful. His shooting touch is ok and the handle is better. He gets so few touches with Brentwood Academy, as they had essentially two point guards ([player_tooltip player_id="1019053" first="Jayson" last="Nixon"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1145719" first="Tyler" last="Tanner"]) and the senior [player_tooltip player_id="1224054" first="Trent" last="McNair"]. Drey can do impressive things when given the chance. Keep an eye on him.
