In this week’s installment of “Prospects Who Impressed” you will notice that some highly ranked prospects in southeastern Pennsylvania continued to throw up remarkable scoring performances on the league and district playoff stages.

Below is a review of six prospects we saw in-person or via online streams in the last week who impressed us with their extraordinary level of play.

[player_tooltip player_id="1173982" first="Ty" last="Burton"] – 5’11” / Sophomore / Lampeter-Strasburg / Philly Pride National / Combo Guard: Burton turned the District 3-5A tournament into his own statewide coming out party. This ultra-quick guard with filthy handles and an automatic jumper poured in 35 points in the District 3-5A semifinal win over Hersey. Next Burton scored 24 points (17 in 2nd half; 4 threes) in the Pioneers’ District 3-5A title game defeat of Shippensburg. His ridiculous 4-point play with two minutes remaining in that contest was the dagger. Over his last four games Burton averaged 27.5 ppg. and helped L-S capture the Lebanon-Lancaster League ‘ship and the District 3-5A title. The Pioneers’ record now stands at 27-0.

Christian Clover – 6’3” / Senior / Scotland Campus / Point Guard: Clover is a lefty with ridiculous range on his jumper. Additionally, Clover is quick and physical. So, if a defender plays him tight, he can put the ball on the floor and get into the mid-range / paint for buckets. In his last two games, Clover has put up big numbers. He scored 45 points in a loss to the Phelps School’s post graduate team and 24 points in a win over Olympus Prep (Red). The 45-point effort was a dominating performance that is sure to grab the attention of college coaches.

[player_tooltip player_id="991216" first="Demetrius" last="Lilley"] – 6’9” / Senior / Lower Merion / Philly Pride National / Power Forward: Lilley was simply overpowering in the post and on the boards as he led Lower Merion to their second consecutive District 1-6A championship. It is amazing how ill prepared out-of-conference foes are to deal with his size and strength. In the District1-6A semifinal win over previously undefeated Cheltenham (28-1), Lilley notched a 20 and 10 double-double. Then Lilley went out racked up 24 points (1 three; several powerful dunks) in the championship win over Norristown.

[player_tooltip player_id="901951" first="Daniel" last="Skillings"] – 6’5” / Senior / Roman Catholic / Philly Pride National / Shooting Guard: Skilling is committed to Cincinnati and the Bearcats are getting an elite bucket getting wing who is super athletic. Recently Skillings posted two noteworthy double-doubles. First, he rang up 23 points and 11 rebounds in Roman’s disappointing PCL semifinals loss to Neumann-Goretti. But this three-level scorer bounced back quickly from that heart breaker to register another double-double -- 28 points and 11 boards – while leading Roman to victory in the District 12-6A championship game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1213553" first="Thomas" last="Sorber"] – 6’8” / Sophomore / Archbishop Ryan / Team Final EYBL / Power Forward: Sorber’s ability to score from the mid-range to the rim earned him a 1st Team All-PCL selection. Here in the post season, Sorber (16 ppg. & 9.5 rpg.) shows no sign of letting up. He recorded 17 points, 6 rebounds, 7 blocks and 4 assists in PCL championship game against Neumann-Goretti. After that Sorber rang up 21 points 9 boards and 2 blocks vs. Imhotep during District 12-5A championship. Despite Sorber’s tremendous efforts, Ryan unfortunately lost both contests.

[player_tooltip player_id="1116063" first="Robert" last="Wright III"] – 6’2” / Sophomore / Neumann-Goretti / Team Final EYBL / Point Guard: After a stellar regular season (18-5-4 per) Wright was named as a 1st Team All-PCL selection. Wright’s versatility is next level. His can operate as a scoring lead guard or one that facilitates for teammates. When in scoring mode, he excels in transition and can splash threes. As a facilitator he is an excellent drive and kick as well as pick-n-roll passer. Last week Wright put 20 points and 4 steals in the scorebook during Goretti’s PCL semifinal upset of Roman Catholic. Wright then helped Neumann-Goretti bring home the PCL hardware with 22 points (4/4 on threes) and 9 rebounds in the championship game.
