There were 16 Super Sectional games across the state on Monday night. What a fun night of hoops! Here is our recap of the night! Check out Super Sectional Notebook!

1A

Yorkville Christian defeats Lexington 71-33

Duke commit and top senior [player_tooltip player_id="863582" first="Jaden" last="Schutt"] went for 22 points and 11 rebounds leading his team to Champaign as the prohibited favorites.

Liberty defeats Southeastern 49-42

We caught the first half of this game. Liberty is a good defensive team with a well-rounded squad. Their top scorer was Devin Klauser who had 21 points. Potential D1 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="1374163" first="Danny" last="Stephens"] scored 14 of his team high 19 points in the first half for Southeastern.

Steeleville defeats Macon Meridian 68-47

Zach Mevert led the way for Steeleville in an 18 point outing in the supers.

Scales Mound defeats Marshall 55-41

Ben Werner was the top scorer for Scales Mound with 20 points in the win.

2A

Nashville defeats Teutopolis 44-18

What a defensive performance by Nashville. They held T-Town to 8 points through the first three quarters. [player_tooltip player_id="1106938" first="Saxton" last="Hoepker"] is a small college gem big man who netted 16 points in the win.

DePaul Prep defeats Leo 50-43

The Catholic league battle was a close one throughout, but DePaul Prep pulled away late to advance to Champaign as the 2A favorite.

Monticello defeats Bloomington Central Catholic 62-44

This was another game we caught quite a bit of. Monticello is a balanced team that can really shoot the rock and defend. Their sharp shooter Dylan Ginalick went for 18 points and 10 boards. It was a quiet first half for BCC star [player_tooltip player_id="1157235" first="Cole" last="Certa"] but he did end up with 10 points.

Rockridge defeats Rockford Lutheran 57-52

Six three pointers and 30 points did the trick as Jase Whiteman led the way for Rockridge!

3A

Simeon defeats Lemont 52-47

It was the breakout game on a big stage for top 10 junior [player_tooltip player_id="1048306" first="Miles" last="Rubin"] as the Simeon four man went for 22 points in the win. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id="1279762" first="Matas" last="Castillo"] had 16 in the loss on the Lemont side.

St. Ignatius defeats St. Patrick 50-49

We were tuned into this double OT thriller. Ignatius got stops to end both regulation and OT. Then did it again with a one point lead to win the game. [player_tooltip player_id="925217" first="Kolby" last="Gilles"] was a monster for Iggy in a 17 point outing using his athleticism, size, and quickness inside. [player_tooltip player_id="989270" first="Richard" last="Barron"] had 16 points as well. Brandon Adorno came on strong at the end of the season finishing this one with 20.

Metamora defeats Wheaton St. Francis 60-44

Metamora’s backcourt did work as [player_tooltip player_id="1371068" first="Tyson" last="Swanson"] scored 18 points and [player_tooltip player_id="1049101" first="Zack" last="Schroeder"] had 14 points sending them to Champaign.

Sacred Heart Griffin defeats East St. Louis 60-50

This was a huge win for this SHG group of juniors as they knocked off a super talented Flyers squad. Their stars as usual stepped up with [player_tooltip player_id="989267" first="Jake" last="Hamilton"] going for 16 points and Zach Hamilton netting 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. The East St. Louis stars did all they could with Mizzou signee [player_tooltip player_id="999560" first="Christian" last="Jones"] going for 14 points and high flying senior [player_tooltip player_id="939073" first="Macaleab" last="Rich"] having 18 points and 10 rebounds.

4A

Whitney Young defeats Kenwood 75-62

You can read all about this in my 5 Takeaways story. Electric game with stars playing at a high level. NIU commit [player_tooltip player_id="863585" first="Xavier" last="Amos"] had 19 points while his junior point guard [player_tooltip player_id="939057" first="Dalen" last="Davis"] went for 18 points. The Kenwood junior duo did their thing as [player_tooltip player_id="939050" first="Darrin" last="Ames"] put on a show with 21 points while [player_tooltip player_id="939069" first="Davius" last="Loury"] had 16.

Glenbard West defeats Larkin 60-34

Another game. Another blowout. If this team wins it all they might do down as one of the best in this century. Gonzaga commit [player_tooltip player_id="925183" first="Braden" last="Huff"] nets 15 points while the state’s top unsigned senior [player_tooltip player_id="863598" first="Bobby" last="Durkin"] had 14. North Dakota State commit [player_tooltip player_id="925184" first="Damari" last="Wheeler-Thomas"] capped his career with a 20 point performance for Larkin.

Barrington defeats Glenbrook South 52-50

Most thought the winner of GBS vs New Trier would cruise to state. Barrington said “Not So Fast My Friend!” [player_tooltip player_id="1106946" first="Will" last="Grudzinski"] was money in this one as the skilled and versatile forward committed to Washington University in St. Louis had 16 points in the win in his matchup with Elon commit [player_tooltip player_id="925224" first="Nick" last="Martinelli"] who finished with 18 points.

Bolingbrook defeats Quincy 49-42

Coach Brost does damage in March! That’s what this program has done for years. Junk yard dog post [player_tooltip player_id="1210405" first="Michael" last="Osei-Bonsu"] had a double double of 14 points and 11 rebounds while fellow unsigned senior [player_tooltip player_id="1048730" first="Jaydin" last="Dunlap"] netted 10 points.
