There has been some good news on the recruiting front. While many prospects remain unsigned, its encouraging to see some momentum on that angle.

Here is the latest...

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1062420" first="Noah" last="Kattan"] committed to Lynn University. The 6-foot-3 guard out of Cypress Bay helped the Lightning 23-6 record and appearance in the Class 7A regional finals. Kattan averaged 11.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 45 percent from the field. Moreover, he shot 40-of-107 (37 percent) from deep and 87 percent from the free-throw line. As you can see, Kattan is a pretty good shooter in all phases of the game. Since I saw him as a junior, I thought he was in the D2 range. Kattan has a quick release and enough athleticism to translate to the Sunshine State Conference. He joins Westminster Academy wing [player_tooltip player_id="814984" first="Rickey" last="Ballard"] as recent commitments to the Fighting Knights. Riviera Prep’s [player_tooltip player_id="814913" first="Esteban" last="Lluberes"] committed earlier this year.

That turns me to Kattan’s teammate, 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="829477" first="Kevin" last="Pazmino"]. I’m interested to see his move as he has really developed over the last 15 months. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard a team-best 13.6 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor. In addition, Pazmino knocked down 66 3-pointers (38 percent) and shot 86 percent from the free-throw line. In the classroom, he holds a 3.5 GPA. Pazmino’s size and dependable shooting ability should land him at a nice school.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="709215" first="Marvel" last="Allen"] picked up an offer from Michigan. Since decommitting from LSU, he has picked up a slew of interests and offers from D-1 programs. The side angle here is that Allen is teammates with current Michigan signee [player_tooltip player_id="814895" first="Gregg" last="Glenn"]. Could that be a factor in his recruitment? Only time will tell but it’s something to think about. Moreover, Juwan Howard has a great relationship with Glenn and the South Florida community.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="814912" first="Jimel" last="Lane"] earned some offers over the weekend. The 6-foot-7 guard picked up steam with inquires from Tallahassee Community College, Eastern Florida, Indian River State, Columbia State and Fort Lauderdale. Lane expanded his offensive game this season while already being one of the best scorers in Miami-Dade County. His guard skill includes 58 made 3-pointers. Overall, Lane averaged 24.4 points and ten boards per game while shooting 51 percent from the floor. On defense, he blocked two shots and recorded over two steals per game. Lane is a consistent two-way player and is only improving. I think his high ceiling is far ahead of him as it’s hard to deny the numbers and his body frame.
