NCHSAA 1A & 2A State Championship Preview

<p><em>1A Chatham Charter vs Hayesville HS</em>: CCHS comes into this matchup with a record of 33-1 and riding a 25-game winning streak. They are led by Junior Forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1257290" first="Adam" last="Harvey"]</strong> who averages 16 Points, 7 Rebounds and 3 steals per contest for his team. Another player to keep an eye on for CCHS is 6’6 Freshman Forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1225619" first="Brennen" last="Oldham"]</strong>, who has been a solid contributor for his team and is showing that he has potential to be a special prospect before it’s all said and done. Hayesvile HS has put together an impressive season of their own, entering the state championship game on a 27-game winning streak and no losses so far this season. Standing at 6’6, Senior Forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1123942" first="Jake" last="McTaggart"]</strong> has been outstanding this season, averaging 18 Points and 12 Rebounds per contest but he hasn’t taken on the workload by himself. Senior Point Guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1219922" first="Kolbe" last="Ashe"]</strong> has made a big impact on games, averaging 17 Points and 4 Assist per game, using his three-point shooting ability to stretch the floor. </p> <p><em>2A Farmville Central vs JM Robinson</em>: Both teams in the matchup have won state championships before and they both get the job done by committee with numerous players contributing. JM Robinson holds a record of 27-3 and has four players that average double figure scoring, with Senior Guard <strong>Jaylan Jackson</strong> and Junior Forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1360301" first="Daevin" last="Hobbs"]</strong> both averaging just under 15 Points per contest. Farmville Central has been the dominant team in the 2A division over the past few years, winning multiple championship with two out of their 3 losses this season coming against national level programs. Farmville also has four players averaging double figure scoring but they are clearly led Junior Guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="854917" first="Jah" last="Short"]</strong> who is a legit D1 prospect and is averaging around 20 Points per game. One of the X factors for Farmville will be the play of Senior Forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="577839" first="Derrick" last="Cox"]</strong>, who stands at only 6’2 but plays with a high motor and makes a high impact on games inside the paint. </p>
