It’s time for March Madness! Section play has begun. Minnesota Playoff Central is here as we prepare for #MNStateHoops22!

Upset City. There wasn’t an upset but it’s my favorite category so I am keeping the title. We have had one playoff game already and it was Wabasha-Kellogg beating Mabel-Canton 65-54 earlier in the week. It was the 16/17 game meaning Wabasha-Kellogg now has to face the number one team in the state, Hayfield.

Playoff Central. We have three sections playing games tonight: 1A, 3A, and 1AA. Most sections won’t start for several days where as 1A and 1AA are in full force this evening while 3A games will be pigtail contests.

The Big Stage. Randolph vs Leroy-Ostrander should be an excellent game tonight. It’s an 8/9 game and names like [player_tooltip player_id="958837" first="Tanner" last="Olson"] and Levi Royston lead the Cards while the Rockets will match them with [player_tooltip player_id="1341718" first="Tyson" last="Cooreman"] and Clay Nielsen. Excellent game and one of many Section 1A contests tonight.

Class AA Section 1 is also center stage tonight with 7pm tip offs from around the southeast part of Minnesota. The best game is likely to be that 8/9 game between Triton and Rochester Lourdes. But that overall section is in the spotlight tonight as the higher seeds host playoff games.

Tip of the Hat to the Career. Today’s senior honored is Alex Arneson. Alex is the best senior in Minnesota who has lost a playoff game so far. He is a 6’2 forward that averaged nine points and seven boards a game for Mabel-Canton who finished 8-18 this season (heck of a record for a 16 seed, right!)
