<p><strong>GHSA State Playoffs: Top Guards Pt. 3</strong></p> <p>I traveled long and far across the entire state of Georgia from the North to the South, East to West to see some of the most intriguing matchups throughout the state tournament. Now that I can finally catch my breath, here are some of the top performers I saw over the past month of the GHSA State Playoffs.</p> <p><strong>2023 6-1 G [player_tooltip player_id="870162" first="Jalen" last="Forrest"] – Greenforest</strong></p> <p>Bowling ball guard that overpowers defenders when getting downhill. Uses his strength to protect the ball against pressure defense. Effective rebounder. Poured in 26 points and 6 rebounds in state championship.</p> <p><strong>2023 6-1 G [player_tooltip player_id="820305" first="Isaac" last="Martin"] – King’s Ridge</strong></p> <p>Money three-point shooter that went 6-10 from deep in title game. Shoots the ball with great confidence and can make plays with the dribble when looking to facilitate.</p> <p><strong>2022 6-3 SG [player_tooltip player_id="1223215" first="Alahn" last="Sumler"] – Buford</strong></p> <p>Gets hot in the blink of an eye. Plays with great balance. High percentage jump shooter with accurate three-point shot. Has grown his floor game as a reliable rebounder and steady playmaker. Had 17 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in 6A title game.</p> <p><strong>2022 6-1 PG [player_tooltip player_id="870187" first="Simeon" last="Cottle"] – Tri-Cities</strong></p> <p>Kennesaw State-signee averaged over 30 points per game in state playoffs. Finished career with a state title, collecting 16 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. True point guard with a veteran presence. Sees the floor exceptionally well. Gifted scorer that has the game come easy. Sneaky good on-ball defender.</p> <p><strong>2023 6-1 PG [player_tooltip player_id="948820" first="Kory" last="Mincy"] – Tri-Cities</strong></p> <p>Stock rising junior that carried Luella his sophomore season before transferring to Tri-Cities. Hit big shots in 5A State Championship, finishing with a game-high 19 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Pretty jump shot off the dribble and off the catch. Turns people over. Good playmaker.</p> <p><strong>2023 6-4 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1049219" first="London" last="Johnson"] – Norcross</strong></p> <p>Carried Norcross to 7A State Championship with 27 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. Blossoming 5-star prospect with a mature approach and smooth game. Scores downhill through contact and hits the three consistently. Snakes ball screens and exploits weaknesses in defenses.</p>
