It’s time for the regional finals and we’re down to the best of the best. I’m going to give you my predictions for the Division 1 and Division 2 games and a star player from each game.

DIVISION 1

HAMTRAMCK VS. ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARY’S

Prediction: Orchard Lake St. Mary’s

Star Player:

Trey McKenney (2025, SG, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)

McKenney has already shown that he’s an elite talent on a national scale. He’s a true 3 level scorer that can really leave his mark in this game against a top notch defensive team.

WARREN DE LA SALLE VS. MACOMB DAKOTA

Prediction: Warren De La Salle

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="983510" first="Tamario" last="Adley"] (2022, PG, Warren De La Salle)

Adley is super quick and explosive coming out of the backcourt. When he turns the corner on his defender - Watch out.

GRAND RAPIDS NORTHVIEW VS. HOLLAND WEST OTTAWA

Prediction: Grand Rapids Northview

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="787685" first="Kyler" last="Vanderjagt"] (2022, SG, Northview)

Vanderjagt has put together a Mr. Basketball type of season. He has a ton of positional strength and can play a physical or finesse game, whichever is needed.

KALAMAZOO CENTRAL VS. OKEMOS

Prediction: Kalamazoo Central

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="863968" first="Thomas" last="Dillard IV"] (2022, SF, Kalamazoo Central)

Dillard’s defense will rule the day. I always talk about his D, but don’t forget, he’s getting buckets through the playoffs as well.

PETOSKEY VS. GRAND BLANC

Prediction: Grand Blanc

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="1212739" first="Tae" last="Boyd"] (2023, SF, Grand Blanc)

Boyd is finding his rhythm and that’s dangerous for his opponents. Boyd can get out in the open floor and finish with flare.

CLARKSTON VS. DETROIT CATHOLIC CENTRAL

Prediction: Detroit Catholic Central

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="863948" first="Cooper" last="Craggs"] (2022, F, Detroit Catholic Central)

Craggs is one of the most versatile players in the state on both ends of the floor. He’s a tough matchup for any team statewide.

BELLEVILLE VS. ROMULUS

Prediction: Belleville

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="983515" first="Mario" last="Johnson"] (2022, G/F, Belleville)

Johnson can score and he can do it quickly. He has a fast first step and can get his defender on his hip.

BROWNSTOWN WOODHAVEN VS. DETROIT CASS TECH

Prediction: Detroit Cass Tech

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="863969" first="Terrance" last="Broughton"] (2022, PG, Detroit Cass Tech)

Broughton transferring in helped take Cass Tech to a whole new level. He’s a fast guard that can play effectively at that speed. Broughton has the ability to mesh nicely no matter who is in the backcourt with him.

DIVISION 2

WHITEHALL VS. GRAND RAPIDS CATHOLIC CENTRAL

Prediction: Grand Rapids Catholic Central

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="987270" first="Kaden" last="Brown"] (2023, PG, Grand Rapids Catholic Central)

Brown has been playing superb basketball, especially as of late. If he continues to shoot and handle like this, I’m not sure GRCC can be beaten.

BENTON HARBOR VS. EDWARDSBURG

Prediction: Benton Harbor

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="863960" first="Trucel" last="Singleton"] (2022, PG, Benton Harbor)

Singleton can break down a defense in isolation and the open floor. He can create looks at the rim and scoring opportunities for his teammates.

FERNDALE VS. DETROIT PERSHING

Prediction: Ferndale

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="863927" first="Treyvon" last="Lewis"] (2022, SF, Ferndale)

Lewis is a terrific athlete that’s so tough to stop when he gets downhill on the wing. Lewis has the body control needed to make tough plays look easy.

PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP VS. GOODRICH

Prediction: Pontiac Notre Dame Prep

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="1111933" first="Jacob" last="Tuttle"] (2024, CG, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep)

Tuttle is an underrated all around athlete that moves well around the court. He’s a terrific spot up shooter that can be a game changer when he hits a groove.

LANSING CATHOLIC VS. WILLIAMSTON

Prediction: Williamston

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="1349419" first="Mason" last="Docks"] (2022, PG, Williamston)

If you’ve seen a team slow [player_tooltip player_id="1349419" first="Mason" last="Docks"] this season, I’d like to see the video. He’s quick as a bug and handles the rock with precision. Docks is a state title type lead guard.

ROMULUS SUMMIT ACADEMY VS. DETROIT EDISON

Prediction: Romulus Summit Academy

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="1223489" first="Dontez" last="Scott"] (2024, PG, Romulus Summit Academy)

Scott hit his groove mid season and hasn’t looked back. His handles are terrific and he seems to penetrate the lane at will.

ESCANABA VS. CADILLAC

Prediction: Escanaba

Star Player:

[player_tooltip player_id="1349432" first="Colin" last="Hudson"] (2022, SF, Escanaba)

Hudson is a huge reason why I picked Escanaba. His ability to effect the game from so many different spots on the floor is tough to overcome.

FREELAND VS. FLINT HAMADY

Prediction: Flint Hamady

Star Player:

Jakobie Boose (2024, SG, Flint Hamady)

Boose is part of young and talented core at Flint Hamady. The longer they play, the better and more confident they get. That confidence with a player like Boose can be dangerous for opponents.
