This article sheds light on a few student-athletes that have played very well in the 2021-2022 season. They have earned my respect on the basketball court and off of the court as well. I’m confident that if you’re looking to add a key piece to your basketball program, these players will earn your trust as they did mine.

[player_tooltip player_id="890610" first="Antone" last="McNair"] Omaha Benson Bunnies PG/SG 15.0 P/G 4.0 Reb/G 1.0 Stl/G 1.0 Ast/G
[caption id="attachment_1416777" align="alignnone" width="1024"] Omaha Benson point guard Antone "Tiger" Mcnair.[/caption]
Antone is a left-handed point guard that can light up the scoreboard in several ways. He has a solid long-range jump shot. He can break defenders down off the dribble for a mid-range jumper or a layup at the basket. He also loves to run the fastbreak. Mcnair averages one assist per game but, if his teammates had made more shots he would be around 6+ per game. He stands 6’3" tall and still growing so he makes a nice size point guard. I had the opportunity to join Antone for one of his workouts to get more insight into his progress and found out he is taking time to strengthen his body for college. You can trust him on and off the court. He has a 3.8 GPA so he takes his studies just as seriously as basketball. Whoever decides to give him a scholarship will be glad they did. Mcnair is the type of player who has flown below the radar but will be a diamond under a strong coaching staff.

[player_tooltip player_id="1235576" first="Martel" last="Evans"] Creighton Prep Jr. Jays Point Guard P/G 12.0 5.0 Reb/G 3.0 Ast/G 1.0 Stl/G
[caption id="attachment_1416836" align="alignnone" width="1024"] Creighton Prep point guard [player_tooltip player_id="1235576" first="Martel" last="Evans"].[/caption]
Martell is a solid point guard that has tremendous athleticism, a complete offensive skill set, and gives 100% effort on the defensive end. He is a great teammate. Martell always plays with a team-orientated mindset. Evans handles pressure very well and is also able to finish in heavy traffic on a fastbreak or in a set play. He can knock down jump shots from deep or midrange which opens up the floor for his teammates. Evans has a tight handle on the ball so you can rely on him in pressured situations to take care of the basketball. He remains calm yet active in the clutch and shows no fear, only exhibits a pure dedication to win the game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1235599" first="Nick" last="Dolezal"] Millard North Mustangs P/G 8.0 5.0 Reb/G 2.0 Ast/G 1.0 Blk/G Stl/G 1.0
[caption id="attachment_1416782" align="alignnone" width="1024"] Millard North’s state champion forward [player_tooltip player_id="1235599" first="Nick" last="Dolezal"] swishes a free throw against Papillion South.[/caption]
Nick has excellent footwork whether his back is against the basket or towards it. He plays within the flow of the offense and rarely makes mistakes. Dolezal can finish above the rim with solid athleticism or drive by the defense and finish with a finger roll. He can play the wing as well but he is super effective in the short corner or flashing to the middle. He shoots 58% from the field. Nick is a good rebounder on both ends and usually able to get a couple of steals/blocks too. It’s exciting to watch Dolezal play and I truly feel with him winning numerous state titles as a Mustang that he is ready for big-time college play. He just knows how to play the game the right way and keep everybody around him pumped up.

[player_tooltip player_id="1013231" first="Jaden" last="Jackson"] Bellevue West Thunderbirds 10.0 P/G 2.0 Reb/G 2.0 Ast/G 1.0 Stl/G
[caption id="attachment_1416855" align="alignnone" width="1024"] Bellevue West sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id="1013231" first="Jaden" last="Jackson"].[/caption]
Jaden is an all-around guard who can flat-out score the basketball. One word to describe Jaden’s play on the court is "tough." I’ve seen him hit mid-range jump shots, get to the basket and finish strong, hit 3 pointers, etc. A fearless athlete who should be recruited by a collegiate program rooted in success. If I had to describe his play, I would say he’s shown flashes of a young Jim Jackson (Ohio State/NBA Veteran). The best thing about Jackson is he’s going into his junior year next season, so he has some time to continue to develop for college.

[player_tooltip player_id="1018812" first="David" last="Harmon"] Millard North Mustangs PG/SG 15.0 P/G 6.0 Reb/G 1.0 Stl/G 3.0 Ast/G
[caption id="attachment_1396743" align="alignnone" width="1024"] Millard North’s state champion combo guard [player_tooltip player_id="1018812" first="David" last="Harmon"] throws down a reverse self-thrown lob at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.[/caption]
David is incredible! He can shoot, pass, handle the ball, even play tight defense! Harmon is a stellar teammate, listens to the coaching staff, and handles his business in the classroom. Let me also mention he has explosive in-game athleticism. A very respectful young man who is the definition of hard work and dedication. He is a very special guard who has been blessed to play for an amazing program and come up under some of the greatest Nebraska high school basketball players in history. Early in his career, he did not complain, instead, he observed and continued to get better while supporting his team. When his chance came to lead not only did he lead but he matched the competitiveness of Nebraska legend Hunter Sallis and was the backbone of their 2021-2022 championship run. Harmon should end up playing on the highest collegiate level. Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t, especially when you win a state championship to go along with those numbers. If you give him a great platform to work, Harmon will bring back the success college programs desire.
