Who were some players that made a strong showing on the opening day of games? Prep Hoops will be breaking down some categories all week long from the event.
Best Performance Today:
Justin Coleman Justin Coleman 6'5" | PF Oceanside Collegiate | 2023 State SC – Low Country Storm 2023 – Oceanside Collegiate
Coleman was just great today down in the paint for his squad. Coleman registered 26 points in the win for the Storm. Justin is like a bull in a China shop with his play. He really does a good job of drumming up contact and finishing around the cup with both hands. Justin has a thicker frame and plays big for his size in the paint. Coleman finished on a regular basis today around the basket with both hands.
Strong Showing in a Loss:
Isaiah Anderson Isaiah Anderson 6'5" | PF Hilton Head Christian | 2024 State SC – H2 Lowco 16U – Hilton Head Christian
Anderson NEVER looks to take a play despite being down in the game. Isaiah really looks to go to work down in the paint and thrives on contact and diving on the floor for 50/50 balls. Anderson plays football in the fall for the Indians as a wide receiver. He will do whatever it takes for his team to be successful. Isaiah can defend any position on the floor and brings great versatility to the floor.
New Name to Add to the Database:
Deuce Kinloch Deuce Kinloch 6'6" | SF Berkeley | 2026 State SC – PSB Charleston 2026 Alexander – St John Christian Academy (Moncks Corner)
Kinloch is the son of former North Charleston HS player Damien Kinloch. Dad Damien 6’8 played college ball at University of South Carolina and Tennessee Tech 1998-2003. Deuce’s mom ran track at Clemson University. Let’s say Deuce has some great bloodlines and a growth spurt down the road I would imagine. He has great length and a soft touch around the basket. Deuce stepped out and knocked down a three pointer in a win today for PSB Charleston.
Deuce looks to be headed over to Berkeley HS next season from which he told Prep Hoops today.
These are just a few tidbits from today to look at. Prep Hoops will have plenty of coverage in the days to follow from class breakdowns and performances from here at the Big Shots Charleston Tip Off.
