The 3A state championship was decided by one point in a thrilling win for Florida High. This classification’s final four was dominated by guards, as the entire first team is comprised of them. The final four as a whole included studs on every team. Who earned the highest honors for their tournament performance?

First Team:

G- [player_tooltip player_id="814913" first="Esteban" last="Lluberes"], 5’10", Sr. - It is apparent that Esteban is the leader of his team. Lluberes consistently made tough shots throughout both games and totaled 20 points, 3 steals in the semifinal. He was even better in the final, scoring 28 and dishing 4 assists to go along with 5 boards. He truly gave the Bulldogs everything he had, but ended up a point shy of the win. The Lynn University commit will perform well at the next level.

G- Tre Donaldson, 6’3", Sr. - Tre is the point guard every coach wants. A scorer and a great passer, Donaldson totaled 13 points, 6 assists in the semi and a team high 22 points in the final. The cherry on top is how well the 6’3" guard can rebound the ball. His athleticism is unmatched. 10 rebounds in the semi and 8 in the final were both the game highs. Donaldson has signed to play football at Auburn.

G- [player_tooltip player_id="962384" first="Anthony" last="Robinson"] II, 6’3", Jr. - Robinson was fantastic for Florida High. He is simply a playmaker. He’s shifty and can take anyone off the dribble. Robinson dropped 13 in the semifinal and 19 in the final to secure the win. What is impressive about the junior is that he is just as impressive on defense as he is on offense. He had a combined 3 blocks and 4 steals for the tournament. Expect him to be the guy next year for FSUS.

G- Nicolas Flowers, 6’4", Sr. - It’s not often that a bench player makes the first team, but Flowers has earned it. After a modest start in the semifinal (2 points,4 rebounds, 4 steals), Flowers exploded for 15 points on 5-5 from the field in the final. Riviera Prep ended up losing by 1, but they would not have been in the game without Flowers performance off the bench.

G- [player_tooltip player_id="1055791" first="Karter" last="Knox"], 6’5", So. - Karter was probably the most talented player in the tournament, maybe even the most talented in his class in Florida. We have him ranked at number four in our 2024 Player Rankings. The brother of NBA player, Kevin Knox, Karter has the frame and the skill to get to the same level. The sophomore scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds against the soon-to-be state champs. Knox is ranked as a five star, and it is very obvious why.

Honorable Mention:

G- [player_tooltip player_id="1161430" first="Eric" last="Parnell"], 6’2", Sr. - Parnell was one of the only bright spots for a Holy Trinity team that struggled against the powerhouse of Riviera Prep. Parnell led his team with 11 points and added 7 rebounds.

G- [player_tooltip player_id="962426" first="Thaddeus" last="Burns"], 6’0", Jr. - Burns led the Seminoles with 16 points in the semifinal game. He added 10 points in the final.

G- [player_tooltip player_id="962519" first="Eddrin" last="Bronson"], 6’4", Jr. - Bronson is a dangerous scorer on a dangerous team. The junior had 12 points and 5 rebounds. He will be back to Lakeland next year.

G- [player_tooltip player_id="709222" first="Karmello" last="Branch"], 6’4", Jr. - Branch scored 11 points and added 3 steals. Tampa Catholic is loaded with talented guards, led by 5 star [player_tooltip player_id="1055791" first="Karter" last="Knox"], that are all returning next year, so I expect them to be one of the favorites to win the state championship.
