Andre Lawrence Andre Lawrence 6'2" | CG Grant | 2022 State OR (2022 Grant)
Lawrence has been a jack-of-all-trades kind of player for Grant the past couple of years, but against Benson he was the master of the pass. The 6-foot-2 guard focused on getting his teammates involved and finding the open man both in halfcourt and in transition. He wound up with 11 assists to go along with seven points and a handful of rebounds and steals.
Cole Bernius (2022 Grant)
Bernius is known best as being a knockdown shooter but where the senior really got things done against Benson was on the boards. He effectively used his 6-foot-4 frame to get position down low to snare rebound after rebound, and when the night was over he had pulled down about a dozen. Offensively he stepped out and hit a three and ended up with five points.
Austen Jay (2022 Grant)
The emergence of Jay – who played JV2 last season – is why Grant head coach Robert Key has decided to go with a bigger starting lineup. Against Benson he got a number of buckets inside, showing off a soft touch near the hoop. He was a factor defensively, helping off the weak side to block shots and wound up with four rejections. The 6-foot-4 senior finished with 11 points and three boards as well.
Colton McMaster (2022 Astoria)
McMaster is a multi-sport athlete and while basketball may not be his main sport – the Dartmouth commit was Oregon’s Athlete of the Year for track from USA Today last year for his prowess in discus and shot put – he was absolutely dominant against Valley Catholic. The 6-foot-4 post was a bully in the lane but had great touch on his shot, both near the hoop and outside – he stepped out and hit two open threes.
Nathan Senatra Nathan Senatra 6'9" | PF Clackamas | 2022 State OR (2022 Clackamas)
The development of the big man has continued as Senatra has become more aggressive and confident with his game as the season has gone along. The 6-foot-9 post fought hard to get position in the post and used his go-to move, a quick turnaround half-hook to score inside. He ran the floor well and was rewarded with a couple of easy buckets. Senatra was strong on the boards, blocked some shots, and finished with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Malik Ross Malik Ross 6'0" | CG Tualatin | 2022 State OR (2022 Tualatin)
We only caught the second half of Tualatin’s runaway victory over Lakeridge at home, but it was a good one for Ross. The 5-foot-11 senior guard had it on automatic getting to and finishing at the hoop as usual, but also hit a couple of pull-up jumpers, one from three. He finished with a team-high 17 points. There’s a reason the Timberwolves are considered by many the favorite for the 6A title and Ross is a big reason why.
