In the initial PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2025 Rankings, we only felt confident enough to do an initial top five. However as we get more of a look at the other freshmen around the state, we’ll be expanding the players that are actually numbered. Here are some of the freshmen we are keeping an eye on.

[player_tooltip player_id="1368244" first="Jessly" last="Bukeyenza"], Century - Bukeyeneza has been starting for Century and has been getting the job done on the stat sheet with scoring and rebounding. At 6-foot-1 he’s had to play big for his size but he’s fared well against the competition.

[player_tooltip player_id="1368243" first="Jason" last="Grady"], Westview - Injuries and illness has devastated the varsity roster this season, but that’s given head coach Michael Wolf the opportunity to get a look at his younger players. Enter Grady, who has shown the ability to shoot the ball when given the opportunity. Already 6-foot-3, he could still be growing.

[player_tooltip player_id="1337025" first="Drew" last="Hall"], South Medford - Hall has been coming off the bench for the powerful Panthers, providing depth in the backcourt. He’s a solid ball-handler, passer, and shooter and does a good job of playing within the system.

[player_tooltip player_id="1336770" first="Justin" last="Han"], Valley Catholic - After starting the year on JV, Han was quickly promoted to varsity and now finds himself in the Valley Catholic starting lineup. The 6-foot guard is a lanky scorer and shooter that just needs to continue building strength as he gets more court time.

[player_tooltip player_id="1368228" first="Brave" last="Johnson"], Jefferson - Johnson was thrown into the fire in an extremely competitive league so he’s certainly taken his lumps. But Jefferson head coach Thomas Gardner is extremely high on Johnson’s potential and as he matures physically the experience from this season will undoubtedly pay off.

[player_tooltip player_id="1368227" first="Owen" last="Nathan"], Roosevelt - Roosevelt head coach is very high on Nathan and has given him spot minutes on varsity here and there. Considering the backcourt is where the Roughriders are the strongest and deepest, the fact he’s getting some playing time says a lot.

[player_tooltip player_id="1368229" first="Payton" last="Reyes"], Mountainside - Reyes is another freshman who started the year on JV but has worked his way up onto the varsity roster. He’s a smaller guard at around 5-foot-7 but is a very high energy player that plays bigger than his listed height. He scored his first career varsity points recently against Southridge.

[player_tooltip player_id="1368274" first="Cruz" last="Veliz"], Woodburn - Veliz has been starting for Woodburn and as the coach’s younger son, he plays with a feel for the game as you might expect. He’s a solid shooter and ball-handler whose best days are clearly ahead of him.
